Kaliningrad plant Avtotor has started production of Jetour brand cars. The compact crossover Jetour Dashing became the first model of the brand to be produced at the plant, the TASS news agency reports. By the end of 2024 in Kaliningrad it is planned to launch production of a mid-size crossover Jetour X70, and in 2025 - all-wheel drive SUV T2, said the director of external cooperation Jetour for international markets Liang Binh.
In turn, Avtotor Chairman of the Board of Directors Valery Gorbunov said that in 2024 the company plans to produce at least 10 thousand Jetour brand cars in Kaliningrad, aiming to increase the output to 15 thousand cars. The production volumes, he said, depend on the market needs.
"Avtotor and Jetour have signed a general cooperation agreement until 2028, which provides for the organization of production of the brand's products in Russia and gradual increase in the level of localization. Specialists of Avtotor and Jetour started preparation and equipping of facilities for Jetour full-cycle production (welding, painting, assembly), which is planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2025.
Recall, Chinese brand Jetour officially entered the Russian car market in June 2023 and today is represented by the flagship crossover X90 Plus, compact Dashing and mid-size X70 Plus, as well as all-wheel drive SUV Jetour T2.

“From the materials in the court file, it appears that Silver Basis filed a lawsuit in August 2023 demanding from Moskvich the recovery of 2.5 million euros of debt and 124 thousand euros of penalties under the contract signed in 2020. At that time, Moskvich belonged to the Renault automobile concern and was called Renault Russia CJSC. Under the agreement, the plaintiff undertook to produce and transfer to the defendant equipment for the production of components for Renault cars. There is less development and innovation in this low-margin segment because it has to be sold cheaper and that is why we are under pressure in this regard,” Sokolov said.
According to him, Chinese automakers started discounting their cars by 900 thousand rubles, entering the segment of cars worth 1.5 to 2 million rubles, which includes Lada Vesta.

The corresponding instruction was given by First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov during a meeting on the development of charging infrastructure for electric cars, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.
"In the next six years, the number of charging stations should grow more than 10 times. With the increase in their number, it is necessary to give motorists comfortable access to up-to-date information about their work," he said. First Deputy Prime Minister also instructed to work out a minimum set of requirements for national services of charging stations, which should cover the majority of Russian regions.
These requirements include, in particular, the need to track the status of the station and individual connectors in real time, the identification of stations in mapping services, the ability to receive feedback on the work of stations from other users. At the moment, the number of fast EHS in Russia is about 1,150 vehicles, almost all of which have been put into operation under the government's Electric and Hydrogen Vehicle Initiative and a special subsidy program in place since 2022.
The electric car fleet in the country has increased to more than 40 thousand cars, of which about 10 thousand are produced in Russia. The electric car has a MacPherson suspension at the front and multi-lever suspension at the rear. The permanent magnet electric synchronous motor produces 160bhp of power with 225Nm of torque. The traction battery has a capacity of 60.2 kWh.
The range is 520 kilometres on a full charge according to the CLTC methodology. The novelty is adapted for operation in the Russian climate, has passed certification and is included in the program of deep production localization.
To implement this program, 12 new plants are being set up at the new Avtotor production site in Kaliningrad Region, which will produce not only electric cars themselves, but also dozens of automotive components, including critical components such as electric engine, gearbox, traction battery, power electronics, as well as electric car chassis, body and body systems, steering, etc. The cluster will be launched already. Thus, for three months 75,080 cars of SUV C segment were sold, which is 23% of the total market volume. As experts noted, compact crossovers have become leaders thanks to Chinese brands, which are mostly represented in this segment. The leader in the SUV C segment is Haval Jolion. The second place in terms of sales is occupied by segment B vehicles (68,396 vehicles), which accounted for 21% of sales.
The popularity of this segment is largely due to LADA cars, which are the best-selling cars in Russia. The leader of this segment, as well as of the whole market, is LADA Granta. The third position, with a barely noticeable lag, is occupied by the SUV D segment (67,921 vehicles). Its share is also equal to 21%. Geely Monjaro becomes the leading model in the segment of mid-size crossovers.
The fourth line is occupied by SUV B segment (51,955 vehicles) with a share of 16%. The most popular model is domestic LADA Niva Travel. The SUV E segment (25,458 vehicles; share - 8%) is in the top 5. The leader among the models in this segment is Changan UNI-K.
According to Sergey Tselikov, Director of AUTOSTAT agency, Russian market is the only one in the world where the SUV segment prevails. However, the share of crossovers and SUVs is growing in other countries.

At the first stage, the Izhevsk Plant's assembly line will produce 15 cars per hour.
