Kaliningrad region has launched the first commercial project on the use of electric cars in taxi services. By the end of April, Kaliningrad electric taxi fleet will include 50 Amberavto electric cars manufactured at Avtotor, according to the press service of Kaliningrad regional government.
The project of the first electric taxi creation in the region is implemented by the company "Koenig - Rent", which today according to the data of the service "Yandex Taxi" is the largest car fleet in the Kaliningrad region and counts about 300 cars. Alexander Navagin, the owner of the company "Koenig - Rent", stated that in two years half of the company's fleet will consist of electric cars. In addition to providing cars for taxi transport, "Koenig-Rent" plans to organize eco-carsharing in the Kaliningrad region.
Recall, the first electric cars "Amberavto A5" were produced at the plant "Avtotor" in Kaliningrad at the end of 2023. "Pilot" batch of cars is planned to be realized within Kaliningrad region to get the first experience of operation here. Amberavto A5 sedan, based on the JMEV GSE electric car from the JMC and Renault joint venture, has the following dimensions: 4,675 mm in length, 1,835 mm in width and 1,480 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.
The electric car has a MacPherson suspension at the front and multi-lever suspension at the rear. The permanent magnet electric synchronous motor produces 160 hp of power with 225Nm of torque. The traction battery has a capacity of 60.2 kWh. The range is 520 kilometres on a full charge according to the CLTC methodology.
The novelty is adapted for operation in the Russian climate, has been certified and is included in the program of deep localization of production.
