@Michael , @Beijingwalker .. sometimes ago, there was this news that President Xi want to reduce PLA by 300,000 troops because of modernaisation and lethality of today's weapons you don't need that big of army.

What is update on that. How much is PLA today in comparison to like 5 years ago ? Like what are the long term plans for Chinese armed forces strength.

Based on below article, this adjustment was supposed to be completed by 2017.

This is "old news" from many years ago. The PLA's mission to reduce its military by 300,000 personnel has been completed.
