A new front-wheel drive urban crossover called Geely Cityray has officially entered the Russian market. According to the press service of Chinese brand, the novelty will take a place in its lineup between the crossovers Coolray and Atlas. And the dimensions of Geely Cityray (length - 4510 mm, width - 1865 mm, height - 1650 mm, wheelbase - 2701 mm) allows to refer the car to the segment C-SUV. Ground clearance is equal to 185 mm.

At the start of sales for Russians it will be offered only one variant of the power unit - 1.5-litre petrol turbo engine with an output of 147 hp. It works in tandem with a 7-speed robotized gearbox. This combination allows Cityray to accelerate to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. The manufacturer claims that fuel consumption in the mixed cycle of this model will be only 6.5 litres per 100 km of travel. In the exterior of Geely Cityray it is worth noting the presence of sporty accents: ascending profile lines, spoiler with integrated brake light, twin exhaust pipes.

At the same time, there is a futuristic grille, and daytime running lights, consisting of 256 LEDs, are located above the grille across the width of the front of the car. The rear LED lights form an accent glowing arc at night. All crossover trims, except the base model, feature a panoramic roof with an auto-close function in case of rain. The crossover gets 18-inch alloy wheels. As for interior accents, it is worth noting a spacious interior with 39 different niches and containers for storing things. The volume of luggage compartment is 571 litres, and when the rear seats are folded, it increases to 1271 litres. The seats are trimmed with fabric and eco-leather, the ceiling is upholstered in black. The multifunctional steering wheel is also covered with eco-leather, and the interior rear-view mirror has an auto-dimming function.

Atmospheric interior lighting allows you to choose from 72 colour options. There are 4 driving modes for the car - Eco ('Economic'), Comfort ('Comfort'), Sport ('Sport') and Smart ('Intelligent'). In this case, Smart assumes a mode in which the car independently adapts to the driver's driving style and selects optimal algorithms of actions depending on the road situation. Prices for the car have not been named yet, and the date of sales start has not been announced, but we already know the configuration and equipment of the novelty. According to AUTOSTAT agency, in August 2024 Russian residents bought 1093 used electric cars - it is 8% more than in July (1014 vehicles), but 9% less than a year ago (in August 2023 there were 1204 vehicles). Three brands - Nissan (451 vehicles), Tesla (174 vehicles) and Zeekr (132 vehicles) - accounted for almost 70% of electric car aftermarket in the last month of summer.

The figures of each of the remaining brands totaled less than 100 vehicles. Among the models, the title of the most popular electric car with mileage in our country is confidently retained by Nissan Leaf, which in August sold 444 vehicles. The volume of purchases of other used cars on electric traction was less than 100 vehicles. At the same time, Tesla Model 3 and Zeekr 001 were also included in the top 3, which showed the same result - 87 vehicles.

At the end of summer, the most used electric cars were bought in Moscow - 177 vehicles. The second place is taken by Krasnodar Territory (94 vehicles), the third place is taken by the Moscow Region (80 vehicles). St. Petersburg and Irkutsk Region (68 and 67 vehicles, respectively) are also in the top 5 regions. "As for domestic market cars, price growth will start from the end of September and will reach maximum values within several months. Specific figures of price increase of used cars will depend on many factors, such as monetary policy of the Central Bank, exchange rates, deficit of certain segments, etc.", - comments Andrei Grishakov. The utilization fee will have a strong impact on new cars and cars coming in through parallel imports, and their one-step increase in price will lead to saturation of secondary car market with additional active buyers, which will cause a gradual appreciation of the domestic market segments. After October 1, demand growth will continue, which will directly affect the price of used cars.

Thus, the market share of premium cars has slightly increased. In addition, sales of 'Chinese' cars set another record. This is due to the introduction of a new scale of recycling fee from October 1st, which will subsequently lead to an increase in prices. Therefore, buyers are rushing to buy cars before they become more expensive.
