The plant LADA-Izhevsk decided to produce up to 50 thousand cars in 2024
The plant LADA-Izhevsk, which in May should start serial production of LADA e-Largus together with the resumption of production of standard LADA Largus with internal combustion engine, by the end of 2024 plans to reach the production volume of up to 50 thousand cars. This was reported to Interfax by the head of Udmurtia, Alexander Brechalov, adding that this project provides for investment in the region's economy to the amount of more than 2 billion rubles.
Recall that in December 2023, LADA-Izhevsk began production of a pilot batch of LADA e-Largus, which consists of 30 electric cars. Currently, the plant LADA-Izhevsk employs about 1.5 thousand people, and by the time of the launch of the main conveyor with a capacity of 25 cars per hour, in May, the staff of the enterprise will be expanded to 3 thousand employees. As previously reported AUTOSTAT, in August last year AVTOVAZ finished production of LADA Largus in Togliatti, having produced a "farewell" batch of 650 cars. This number also included machine kits for the adjustment of technological equipment at the production site in Izhevsk, as well as for the pilot batch of LADA e-Largus electric cars.
Earlier, AVTOVAZ decided to transfer production of the entire LADA Largus family to the Izhevsk production site. The transfer of LADA Largus production is connected with plans to load Line 1 in Togliatti, where in the short term it is planned to significantly increase the production of Vesta family cars, as well as to put on the assembly line the LADA Aura executive sedan and a new crossover on the Vesta platform. Thus, Line 1 will specialize in the production of co-platform cars.
