I honestly believe that the Russian advance in the North is intended to force Ukrainians to deploy soldiers from other areas, thereby. weakening them strategically. This tactic aims to stretch the Ukrainian army, which is already struggling to hold positions and protect the front line. Additionally, I believe the bigger plan may involve targeting Odessa, by land route.

Tanks, IFVs are less important than artillery, drones and long distance missiles. This is an artillery war. Artillery fires cause 80 percent of casualties both sides. Primitive WW1.
