They’re producing only new T-90s. The rest are refurbishments. They’ve massively started drawing down T-72As the last few months. Those tanks were in awful condition. The T-64s almost certainly won’t be touched, the T-55s are useless.
In reality Russia probably has 1,000 useful tanks left in storage. They still have hundreds at the BTRZs waiting for refurbishment. I doubt Russia will ever run out of tanks in Ukraine, but their Army is absolutely cooked if this war lasts another 2-3 years, which looks likely at current rate of advance. An Russia has shown no ability to exploit operational breakthroughs.

Time, and numbers, still favor the Russians.
Ukraine is being provided just enough fast enough to die slower. Not to advance and march in Red Square.

It is said Russia has two things that will favor it. Winter cold and time. Napoleon and Hitler's men froze to death in Moscow. Moscow is much colder than France, Germany.

Russias strategic goals have been defeated. Even taking the rest of the Donbass is irrelevant, as most of it is in ruins, will cost hundreds of billions to reconstruct and demine. Its working population is long gone.
As I said a year ago, the Donbass means nothing in the grand scheme. Unless Russia can fundamentally change the direction of this war(taking Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa, overthrowing Z, etc) they’ve been defeated. An they’ve shown no ability to do so. The Ukrainians won’t achieve out right military victory, but they’ve defeated Russian core objectives. An the West has improved its strategic position by far compared to Russia.
As an American, seeing the Russian Army get cooked in eastern Ukraine is perfectly fine with me. Russia is looking at years of attritional warfare ahead.

It's hard for something so ingrained to end overnight. It'll take time. If you look at the Palestine Israel conflict which has been going on since 1947, you realize things like this takes a lot of effort to solve. Heck, even the Pakistan India conflict is still not over.

Ukraine is slowly but surely wrecked and will become a failed state dependent on handouts, with one-third of the population gone. Yet Russia is gaining strength with every passing year. Ammunition, Tank, Armored, and Missile production has increased. Russia has a vast amount of oil and gas to sell, and China can utilize cheap oil and gas to fuel its industry.
Meanwhile, Europe will get poorer with every year of subsidizing Ukraine. The world will see how impotent the West is—all bark, no bite.

Delusional take, Russia is far weaker today than it was prior to the war. The West has clearly come out on top in its strategic position relative to Russia. Ukraine remains independent aligned with the West that will now be an anti-Russian state for generations after the war.

they do have a habit of saying cities are no longer important once it appears inevitable that Russia will conquer them
