If Soviet Union had shown this much resolve in Afghanistan in the 1980s, Soviet Union would have wiped out Afghanistan and reached warm waters and then some. But different times and different leaders and their level of commitment to a cause. Putin is a man of steel.

And because he’s a dictator and holds absolute power he’s not held accountable by anyone.

This was is one of the great strategic defeats in modern history. Russia has lost Ukraine for generations.

I can name at least two American presidents here who are responsible for thousands of deaths who have never been held accountable.

Most countries in the world are dictatorships. Ukraine, Belarus, Russia are all dictatorships.
