Right now the game is force regeneration. Ukraine needs more military aid and Russia needs to reorganise and restock its forces after Avdiivka to make any real progress. Avdiivka was taken over by Russia but the losses that Russia took to make it happen were pretty horrendous.

At Avdiivka, Russia suffered over 26,000 dead and wounded since October at minimum. I’ve seen as high as 50K. They also lost over 650+ pieces of armor.

Avdiivka was a small city of 32K, and a tiny blot on the Ukraine map. For Russia to take Donetsk Oblast, they’d have to take both Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, both cities of 100K and 150K. This would take an enormous effort from Russia, and if Ukraine received a steady supply of artillery practically impossible.

If Ukraine aid passed, the US could send 100K 155mm shells tomorrow.
