A few Ukranian f16s cant do anything other than shooting down kamikaze drones and tossing a bomb once in a while. It seems both sides will grind down each other by Russian glide bombs and Ukranian fpv drones indefinately. Both sides have unrealistic demands to freeze the conflict. Freezing the conflict does not require to solve all issues that is the mission of peace negotiations and peace deal not ceasefire deal.
Maybe Ukraine is thinking that in future they will get gripens in numbers to challange sukhois as well. Also they rely on maybe some awacs support and retired amraam bvr capable planes like F4E in German and other countries inventories and rely on fpv drones to keep the fight going until they get these assets. Russia on the other hand bets on downgrading Ukrainian military capable population with glide bombs and area effect weapons like Tos and bets on like Germany after ww1, huge population losses will make Ukraine accept all of the Russian demands. The end result is taking and reclaiming a village here and there every week with 1k losses everyday for both sides trying to keep the morale high for troops with announcing flag raises but not flag downs and no losses.

Yes, Putin is rich, Russia is sexy with cheap oil, cheap gas. But there is a problem. Russia’s incomes on fuels is huge but too little.
There are some estimates. Putin‘s aggression costs Russia until now $2.44 trillion, $500 billion to Ukraine, $1.5 trillion to global economy.
So this 3 day war costs $4.5 trillion until yet.
Putin will suck out off money, gold and other natural wealth to feed the war machine.

Russian military personnel have released footage of a massive attack by six Ukrainian FPV drones. Only small arms were used to destroy the drones. The drones were hit at long range, presumably using anti-drone ammunition. The location of the footage is not disclosed; the remains of the downed drones are shown at the end of the video.

The Russians still haven’t taken Pokrovsk as Ukrainian forces still occupy positions in the north of the town.

For the Russians to take the rest of the Donbass it will take another 2-3 years minimum and 500K+ dead and wounded. Only way Russia can seize it faster is a collapse in Ukr lines which we haven’t seen even with Ukraines manpower issues.

An Russia has shown no ability to exploit breakthroughs to rapidly seize territory as displayed in August when their rapid push towards Dobropillia got destroyed.

Russia is looking at 2M+ dead and wounded by the end of the Donbass campaign and 6+ years of war, and 750K+ dead.

To put this into perspective, Russia today is surpassing the total number of casualties the US suffered in the entirety of WW2. When you compare the two and what each nation achieved/gained, you realize how idiotic this war has been for Russia. An all time stupid war.

But we’ll still have the usual suspects claiming “it was all worth it” by the end.

Pokrovsk has fallen. Russians are coming for the capital city Kramatorsk to punish the rioters who tried to kill Yanukovych.

Russia is hardly using infantry these days. They use millions of cheap jam proof fiber optic guided toy drones. Human casualties in modern wars is minimal. It's nowhere near 500,000 men.
