Bloomberg Agency announces the Saudi sublimation project
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is planning to enter the artificial_intelligence race, as the Saudis plan to create an artificial intelligence force worth $100 billion.

It will be created with a similar structure to Alat, a company focused on sustainable manufacturing and backed by $100 billion in capital from the Kingdom's Public Investment Fund. The Alat Machinery Fund is headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and seeks joint investment with large international companies.

Artificial intelligence is part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to identify new revenue sources away from oil. Its goal is to become among the top 15 countries in AI by spending the rest of this decade adopting the technology at home and then exporting it from 2030.
The Kingdom has launched major research centers and ministries dedicated to AI and has produced large-language models similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT.
People familiar with the matter said in March that the PIF was separately in early talks to partner with venture capital giant Andreessen Horowitz in a fund that could grow to $40 billion in commitments, to target artificial intelligence investments.

Other Saudi officials have told us that the kingdom envisions an AI entity that would be a national champion, at least as large as the G42 technology conglomerate in Abu Dhabi, according to the people familiar with the matter.

In addition to major projects at KAUST, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, including:
Building a supercomputer (Shaheen 3) and import at least 3,000 H100 semiconductor chips from Nvidia.
The university attracted a number of distinguished Chinese researchers with experience in the field of artificial_intelligence, who were prevented by America from studying and working in it after they graduated from Chinese universities.
Launching the AceGPT artificial intelligence model. It is an open source generative AI model (LLM) designed specifically for the Arabic language, resulting from a tripartite collaboration between King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Shenzhen Big Data Research Institute.

The Fund and Google Cloud announced a strategic partnership to launch a new global center for artificial intelligence, near the city of Dammam.
It aims to develop the capabilities of Saudi talent in the labor market through artificial intelligence and digital skills programs that benefit millions of #students and employees, in line with the Kingdom’s strategic goals of achieving 50% growth in the communications and information technology sector.
Aramco Digital
The technology arm of the energy company Aramco is one of many companies that signed deals at the LEAP conference. On the third day of the Riyadh technology event, Aramco_Digital grabbed the spotlight by unveiling... the Plan of a partnership with Groq, the global leader in the AI chipset market.
This cooperation aims to establish the world's largest artificial intelligence computer center in the Kingdom, which will enhance the growth of the industry in the region.
It was a small miracle that AramcoDigital was able to conceive and build its tools so quickly.
Groq is of particular interest to Aramco Digital @saudi_aramco because it may align with its own software activities. Instead of building LLM from scratch, Aramco Digital selected from the open source community and performed some fine-tuning on specific datasets. Furthermore, it has created an “Intent-based” coordination layer, which means the user can issue simple instructions and let the AI perform the necessary tasks..The result is a new AI-powered operating system called NourOS (Nour means light in Arabic), which was showcased at the Leap 2024 technology fair in Saudi Arabia. And Groq can fit it better than any GPU.
While powerful Nvidia chips are necessary for the difficult task of training LLMs, more power-efficient options may replace them in AI inference when applications based on these fully trained LLMs are released. They could include more advanced voice assistants and chatbots powered by NourOS.
The lofty goal of NourOS - described as a “next-generation enterprise operating system” - is to replace artificial intelligence with visual applications used in the enterprise.
The initial deployment within Aramco Digital meant that an employee could use an AI “prompt” to find out how many vacation days were left, rather than sending emails to HR managers, looking at HR manuals, or leveraging specific online tools.
After integrating NourOS with Intel silicon, Aramco Digital used simple voice commands to provide the policy controller (used to manage resources) with specific variables.
Aramco Digital now has 12 use cases for NourOS covering financial, legal, human resources and open RAN domains.
The company is integrating relevant elements into its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, and the company's ambition is to have "the entire company" running on NourOS by the end of this year. But there is a plan to go to market as well, because the message, essentially, is that Aramco Digital takes care of the rest of the sectors under the guise of “AI infrastructure as a service.” And act as a facilitator for artificial intelligence in the region.
Giant artificial intelligence model (Aramco MetaBrain)
Establishing an innovative research and development network, represented by the Saudi Laboratory for Accelerated Digital Innovation, which aims to enhance the digital economy.
(Aramco MetaBrain) is a pioneering and large industrial-grade generative artificial intelligence model, based on cumulative data collected by the company over 90 years, and represents a strategic investment in generative artificial intelligence by the company, which plans to use it to run cognitive applications across its business.
