Saudi mining company Maaden reported strong revenue growth in the second quarter of 2026, driven by higher commodity prices and increased gold and aluminium sales volumes.

The topline grew 16 percent year on year to SAR11 billion ($3 billion) in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, despite lower sales of phosphates.

Half-yearly revenue was up 10 percent, the company said in a statement to the Saudi stock exchange.

Aluminium prices surged 51 percent, gold increased 33 percent, while ammonia jumped 135 percent in the second quarter year on year.

RIYADH — The stock of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Saudi economy reached approximately SR1,122.8 billion by the end of the first quarter of 2026, marking a 12 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.

The stock of FDI in the Saudi economy accounted for approximately 32 percent of total foreign investment in the Kingdom, according to the data released by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

The report showed that the stock of foreign investment in the Saudi economy rose to SR3,530.8 billion by the end of the first quarter of 2026, representing an 18% increase compared to the same period last year. Foreign investments are distributed across foreign direct investment (FDI) and portfolio investments, which comprise equity, investment fund shares, and debt securities, totaling SR1,467.3 billion, as well as other investments valued at SR940.7 billion.

Foreign direct investment is defined as investment that reflects a long-term relationship and an ongoing interest of economic entities based in an economy other than the one in which they are investing. This means that the foreign investor owns 10 percent or more of the shareholders' equity.

RIYADH — The Heritage Commission has added 9,586 architectural heritage assets to the National Register of Urban Heritage across various regions of Saudi Arabia, bringing the total number of registered assets to 59,586.

Asir recorded the largest number of newly registered assets at 4,363, bringing its total to 25,110.

Al-Baha followed with 2,547 new registrations, raising its total to 7,820, while Makkah recorded 1,755 new assets, bringing the total there to 7,786.

Najran added 673 assets, bringing its total to 1,610, while Riyadh recorded 169 new registrations for a total of 6,072.

Madinah added 23 assets, bringing its total to 4,003, while Hail recorded 21 new assets for a total of 2,403.

The Eastern Province added 19 assets, raising its total to 1,154, while Qassim recorded 13 new assets for a total of 2,364.

Tabuk added two assets, bringing its total to 198, while the Northern Borders Region recorded one new asset, raising its total to 111.

The commission also registered a total of 457 architectural heritage assets in Al-Jouf and a total of 498 in Jazan.

Ironically I talked about the possibility of just that occurring again many years ago.

Last wild lions killed in KSA (from what we know about) was in the late 1890's. In Yemen apparently in the early 1900's and in the region as a whole in South Iraq (along the Tigris river) in 1918.

I know that almost every type of fruit (tropical ones included not found anywhere in the region other than neighboring Yemen), vegetables and plants can grow in KSA and does it (on a large or small scale) but I was not aware of this one.

KSA used to be the world's 3rd largest wheat exporter after the USSR and USA up until the late 1980's and early 1990's but it was simply not economically responsible as a lot of ground water was used.

It is much better to use ancient/old techniques like those ones. Very impressive.

Umluj and the area close to it has some of the most beautiful beaches and 100's of tropical untouched islands. Not far from there new luxurious island resorts are emerging.

A piece of information that many people don't know
Part of America's enthusiasm is the enrichment plant
Why?
Because the Saudi idea is that I have uranium ore in large quantities on my land
He offered the American a partnership with the following
1- We extract uranium from the ground (a mining deal like any other mineral)
2- We build a joint laboratory and enrich it
3- We take the fuel we need and sell the surplus abroad

The US imports nuclear fuel from abroad, like Russia
It will benefit from a commercial benefit, sharing with Saudi Arabia the uranium extracted from the earth and fertilizing it, and taking what you need and me taking what I need, and releasing the mortgage on your nuclear energy from Russia, and at the same time selling the surplus.

This is on top of the benefit of transferring technology of advanced reactors, with billions in benefits

That is a lot of mutual benefits to everyone

The same idea as Aramco when it first appeared
But now a nuclear Aramco

* The US Congress itself is trying to ban American nuclear energy from purchasing Russian nuclear fuel
It constitutes 35% of the amount of nuclear fuel purchased from the American side.. Most of it is ready-made enriched fuel, some of it is raw

America will benefit by securing its purchases of nuclear fuel
As well as the percentage of selling nuclear fuel to other countries as a contributing partner

There is no such thing as peaceful nuclear reactors without supervision for safety purposes
All nuclear reactors on Earth are under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency
What distinguishes one agreement from another agreement is an annex called 123
It prevents domestic enrichment of uranium for peaceful nuclear fuel
It means, you buy it from outside

Our agreement with the Americans is a nuclear project to transfer nuclear energy technologies and expertise and build nuclear reactors
Also, the partnership to build uranium enrichment plants as a joint peaceful nuclear fuel in Saudi Arabia (meaning joint investment) and develop a feasibility study within two years for this enrichment.
Meaning they participate with us in extracting it from the ground and fertilizing it.. Because we also have programs to attract foreign investments for mining, including uranium

It means a full package

That's why the American administration, including the president, says:
If we do not sign this deal with Saudi Arabia, it has other options to sign with several countries Such as France, Korea, Russia, China and others
Because they have received several offers..

I don't give much time to X users (mostly cloud chasers, trolls and not very connected people - Hotha is one of them), unlike say a person like Salman al-Ansari, but he makes a lot of correct points in this video.

The region looks like it looks like because among other things (many) much of the leadership is simply incompetent. One just need to take a look at how country x or y is doing. Only success stories in the region are the GCC (not even all of them - one could argue that Kuwait has been struggling for many years for instance) and Turkiye by large. Who else are even equal economic partners? The difference when traveling alone is massive. It is comparable to when traveling to Eastern Europe from Western Europe during the Iron Curtain. In many places there are active war and conflict zones even.

KSA is a paradise for volcanologists.

Anyway the cohesion of the GCC as a political, economic and military bloc would have been better if certain rulers were not at odds with each other. Main elephant in the room being the current Abu Dhabi regime.

Regardless of regimes in power, politics etc. we are tied by geography, ethnicity, religion, culture (by large) and a common future whether we like it or not. Same with the wider neighboring Arab world in the case of KSA.

So ongoing development and even healthy competition, even if at adds currently politically (on some fronts) is always a good thing. If other GCC countries prosper further, it is good news for KSA and the wider region and vice versa.

I think that the link is not available outside of the US, Canada and North America as a whole. I am not based there currently so I cannot watch it.

Frontline (at times) makes some interesting documentaries but they obviously do have their inherent biases. Most Western coverage of KSA is often sensationalism and not overly detailed.
