The memorandum of understanding reflects the strategic alignment between Lucid and EVIQ to cooperate and exchange experiences to develop and improve the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in the Kingdom, contribute to increasing the adoption of these vehicles at the local level, and enhance the Kingdom’s position as a leading center for innovation and development in electric vehicle technologies.

The Lucid Air is one of the fastest charging electric cars on the market today, and Lucid is committed to providing a high-level and expanded ownership experience, making it easier than ever to buy and own the best electric cars in the world. Under the memorandum of understanding, Lucid will cooperate with EVIQ to provide high-speed public charging capabilities to Lucid customers through EVIQ stations in the Kingdom.

On this occasion, Faisal Sultan, Vice President and Managing Director of Lucid in the Middle East, said: “The cooperation between Lucid and EVIQ constitutes a quantum leap in addressing one of the most prominent challenges preventing the widespread spread of electric cars – easy access to reliable charging stations. The acquisition represents Aramco's first entry into Pakistan's retail fuel markets

Saudi Aramco signed final agreements to acquire a 40% stake in Pakistan Gas and Oil Company Limited “GO”.

“GO” is a company that works in the field of fuels and lubricants..Diversified Stores, one of the largest warehousing and retail companies in Pakistan. According to Aramco’s statement, the agreed upon acquisition represents the first Saudi Aramco's entry into the retail fuel markets in Pakistan, which strengthens the company's own strategy of value chain in the refining, chemicals and marketing sector at the global level.

The deal will enable Saudi Aramco to secure additional outlets for its refined products, and open new markets for oils Lubricants bearing the Valvoline brand, after Saudi Aramco’s acquisition of the products business of the American company Valvoline in February 2023 AD.

On this occasion, the President of Refining, Chemicals and Marketing at Saudi Aramco, Mohammed bin Yahya Al-Qahtani, said:

“This is Saudi Aramco’s second planned acquisition in the retail sector this year.
This is in line with the company's strategy to expand in the field of refining, chemicals and marketing.. And the company's clear vision to develop its integrated business portfolio in the field of refining and marketing, and lubricants, trade, and chemicals around the world.”

Al-Qahtani added that Go Company possesses important storage capabilities, in addition to its high-quality assets and future growth opportunities. Which enhances Saudi Aramco’s ambitions to launch Its brand in Pakistan.

Royal Decree: Fees for licensing weapons for diplomats in Saudi Arabia

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, issued a royal decree requiring the collection of fees for issuing and renewing weapons licenses issued to members of the diplomatic and consular corps accredited to the Kingdom, on the basis of the principle of reciprocity, and in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Pursuant to the Royal Decree, Paragraph (D), concerned with collecting fees, was added to Article 31 of the Weapons and Ammunition Law.

The system allows members of the diplomatic and consular corps accredited to the Kingdom to bring, carry and acquire standard individual weapons, as well as their ammunition, after obtaining a license or to obtain these weapons from stores licensed to sell within the Kingdom on the condition of reciprocity. The license is issued by the competent authority upon a request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. .

Members of the diplomatic and consular corps may only transfer ownership of a licensed weapon to a member of the same diplomatic mission or consulate accredited to the Kingdom. Otherwise, it must be proven that the weapon left the Kingdom upon the expiration of the licensee’s residence in the Kingdom or upon the cessation of his diplomatic or consular status, unless the source of its acquisition was from within, in which case it may be disposed of in accordance with the Weapons and Ammunition Law and its regulations.
