Sea Sultan Long-Range MPA | Updates & Discussion

Yes. The initial induction of 2 Sea Sultans that was to take place by now has been delayed. The open market aircraft purchase (each pre-owned aircraft will cost around US$20-25 million) is the responsibility of Leonardo which than hands over the platform to Paramount Group in SA for conversions. I have a feeling that the Navy is already regretting this decision due to a number of internal and external factors, but that is just me and my intuition
This will be a set back for PN since this decade was all set for modernization with induction of new typ54s, milgems, hangoor class subs. If not 10, atleast we should have 3-4 LRMPAs (Sea Sultans) before 2030.

All critical spares have to be cleared under an End User Certificate and clearance from Embraer Military Aircrafts section.

That was not my point, my point was there should be no actual shortages as E190 is a very popular plane

Incredible honestly
Your adversary has what? 12 P-8Is currently in service. The best you have right now is P-3Cs and ATR-72s. Honestly what was the logic for using Lineage E 1000 as the base for Sea Sultan. Already a very rare platform and now one has been transferred over to PAF for VVIP use. As if there aren't already enough damned VVIP aircraft. Can the programme at this point

Linage is not rare at all, it is basically an E190

Yea if you do think about it
Almost every programme we've had was behind schedule. Hangor, Sea Sultan etc. I'm not sure about JCF but that will and is likely delayed too. External factors aside, it all comes down to the main thing that plagues every project in Pakistan. $$$

Lineage is a modified E190 with 2x internal fuel tanks in the cargo hold, it was selected for this very reason. You had a regional liner with already certified additional fuel tanks, I don't know whose bright idea was it to go for this very platform, but it felt good on paper,
keep one tank
remove the other, strengthen the airframe from a rotary bomb bay, (yes they wanted a rotary bomb bay, this is why they chose Lineage over G6000 based swordfish)
A maritime x band radar (Seaspray 7500e)
L3 harris MX20 EO/IR
AcoustIcs Processing System
Sonobuoy launchers
an Elint/ESM System like the one we see on the RAS72
They didn't opt for an added MAD stinger but could've gone with a distributed MAD system.
The airframe that was in PN use 91, was transferred to PAF, No 12 Sqn, J760 is the new tail no.
I don't know whether this is temporary (I hope and pray it is) (I hope this is just temporary till PAF gets another G6000 as they have to send the old one for conversion (if they do)).
2 airframes are in South Africa for conversion. (I hope it goes according to plan)
