What if during failed Turkish coup, 10,000s troops left the army and formed opposition group, would Turkey have tolerated them or ordered military operations to finish the rebels. Bashar Al Assad ordered the military action against rebels as would any government in the world. I do agree if he is not strong enough for power for 1 decade, he may aswell negotiate with Turkey and leave power to Turkish backed interim government in return for peace and stop the killings. Not sure how the new government would deal with HTS and Kuridsh rebels, we might even see a new war between the new government and Kurdish rebels or even HTS salvation government.

if ASSAD had been an elected leader and there were those who rebelled against him, then Türkiye would have supported the government that had come into power through democratic elections.

Does the HTS have 200000 men to throw into the meat grinder I don't think so. They just don't have enough to bring the fight to Assad and the Kurds. They have to pick one and go all in lol the longer the fight drags out the worse it gets for the rebels because of the additional reinforcements to Assad regime. I already told you this war will be over in favor of Assad.The rebels have no answer to constant Russian Aerial bombing. Assad can easily muster over 100000 troops to fight that doesn't include other factions that will join in the conflict. U need 2-3 times more in manpower for the attacker to have a chance to succeed.
