Syrian Civil War and The future of Syria after liberation

Asked about the IDF strikes on Monday night, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said Israel was concerned only with defending its citizens.

"That's why we attack strategic weapons systems like, for example, remaining chemical weapons or long-range missiles and rockets in order that they will not fall into the hands of extremists," he said.

On Monday, the UN's chemical watchdog warns authorities in Syria to ensure that suspected stockpiles of chemical weapons are safe.

It is not known where or how many chemical weapons Syria has, but it's believed former President Assad kept stockpiles.

No need to get upset. Arab-China relations look very shiny when you tunnel vision them but put them side by side with Arab-NATO relations and the difference is clear. Talk is cheap all these meetings and lip service doesn't change reality is not measurable.

China has had the greatest economic rise in history I didn't mention any economic difference between west-Arab and China-Arab relations. The economic relations are less relevant in this regard - hence I pointed out the defence cooperation in particular.

To address the defence cooperation specifically lets the Saudi-China ballistic missile compare that to the airplanes for the Saudi airforce. How much $ went into western airforce equipment vs. Chinese? Likewise with UAE, even after recognizing Israel and offering to buy F-35 the UAE got a middle finger on the F-35s. Did UAE approach China for a stealth aircraft?

Regarding the bases, yes I did know about Chinese base in Djibouti but if everyone has a base there it's not really that unique. Meanwhile here's a map of official US bases in the region (2021 so might be a little out of date):
View attachment 87967

Invited or not they have a massive presence in Arab lands whereas China has 0. I will disagree with you about China wanting to have bases there due to China wanting to distinguish itself from America. I don't think the Chinese want bases there because they claim they don't want to be a military hegemon. If offered I wouldn't be surprised if they took it though.

I am not upset, just astounded that people are not more knowledgeable when they willingly start discussing the topics at hand.

What tunnel vision?

There is an annual mutual trade of 400 billion USD.

Those are cold hard facts on the ground that destroy your entire argument.

My friend, you are an American yourself I suppose? You already know as does the entire world, that US weapons are the best weapons out there and have been the case since the start of Arab-Western relations. Look at the Arab states and militaries that relied on Soviet weapons in comparison. Mostly trash.

China is first catching up now but almost every weapon of theirs is not battle-proven. They have not been at any war in ages. Unlike the US war machine.

That map is nonsense. There are no US bases in KSA. Not been the case since prior to the Iraq 2003 invasion.

KSA allowed the US to use the Prince Sultan Air Base in the fight against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

You know how 9/11/Al-Qaeda started in the first place? Due to complains of US military presence in KSA. That was the main argument. Post Gulf War.

Also the only permanent US bases in the region are in Qatar (Al-Udeid - the largest) and in UAE. By INVITATION of the local rulers.

Al-Udeid was established by Qatar in the 1990's when they feared an Saudi Arabian invasion/coup. Read about it.

BTW, China can ask for military bases in some Muslim and Arab countries, maybe the local governments will allow them if it suits the interests of both parties.

Clearly if suits the likes of Qatar and UAE to host US bases. Nobody forces them to. I mean are they not allies/partners? It is hardly a secret, is it? Turkey is a NATO member as well and what is the problem with that? Most Muslim countries would love to be NATO members.

All that is complicated and very little happens according to plan, definitely so in Middle East. One thing seems certain, Syria will become like Jordan. Israel will ensure that. They have been working with the precision of NASA.

I've been trying my best not to bring religion into the discussion, even though the USA-Israeli assault on the Muslim world is driven entirely by Judeo-Christian messianic beliefs. But I'll give you a little snapshot.

Syria is not going to turn into Jordan. It is the setting for what in Islamic prophecies is called the Malhama al Kubra, the most brutal battle in human history, Armagaddon.

The Last Hour would not come until the Romans land at al-A’maq or in Dabiq. An army consisting of the best (soldiers) of the people of the earth at that time will come from Medina (to counteract them). Sahih-Muslim Hadith, Vol. 41, Chap. 9, Hadith 6924

Dabiq is just north of Aleppo. The Romans (US/NATO) and the Muslims are all gathering there. So, no, this is not ending until the $hit hits the fan, which is exactly what the Evangelical Christians of America want.

Biggest problem for Syria will be buying modern weapons, they practically won the war over much stronger opponent in numbers because their infantry was better supported and organized then regime's.
And i considered their options for mid term build up of their armor, air, Ad, navy assets and units and they have no options even if they are loaded with cash. That is huge problem for stability and future perspectives.
Their civilian success in upcoming period will mean almost nothing if could not be defended properly and being able to be credible threat for jew occupation of their territory.
So far turk would like but not sure if they can step in those shoes to help them substantially.

Desperate Syrians are turning to social media for help as they search for their missing loved ones believed to have been held by the Assad regime in secret prisons synonymous with torture and murder.

Thousands of prisoners have already been freed from notorious regime jails after rebels toppled longtime dictator Bashar al-Assad, who fled to Russia. But for many families, the search goes on.

“Hassan Muhammad … Date of arrest 2018. If you know any information, you can communicate directly with the family through the comments,” said one post on a Facebook page for families of the missing.

A poster on another page searched for a doctor, who they said had not been seen since her 2013 arrest.

At least 200,000 Syrians are missing, most of whom were kidnapped or detained by the Assad regime or its affiliates, according to the Syrian Civil Defense, known as the White Helmets. The group has urged Moscow to pressure Assad to reveal the locations of secret prisons.

A Syrian woman still searching for her detained husband said government forces told her he had died, but his body was never given to her.

“There were no words to describe how I was feeling,” Umm Firas told CNN’s Jomana Karadsheh on Tuesday. “I was holding on to the hope he would be released, and our family would be reunited.

Meanwhile, humanitarian organizations have urged Syrians not to exhume their dead.

“Burial sites or mass graves must be protected and preserved to allow organized exhumation (as soon as possible),” the Red Cross said Tuesday. “This is also crucial to identify and ascertain the fate of those missing and provide the much-awaited answers to their families.”

At least 15 military aircraft at Syria’s Marj Ruhayyil Airbase have been targeted in a spate of airstrikes, according to CNN analysis of satellite imagery obtained from Planet Labs. The strikes also appear to have targeted base infrastructure.

The facility, located 18 miles (30 km) south of Damascus, appears to have housed a unit of Mi-25 “Hind” helicopters,” seen in satellite imagery collected by Planet Labs on December 3 and Maxar imagery from earlier this year.

Some context: In recent days, the Israeli military has engaged in a concerted effort to destroy Syrian military assets, striking air bases, ports, and weapons stockpiles across the country. Israeli strikes were intended to eliminate strategic military assets of the Assad regime, with the intention of preventing them falling into an adversary’s hands. As of Tuesday it had conducted about 480 strikes in total, it said in a statement.

US Reaper drone accidentally shot down by Kurdish partner forces in Syria

From CNN's Natasha Bertrand and Katie Bo Lillis

An American MQ-9 Reaper drone was accidentally shot down over northern Syria on Monday by the US’ main partners in the country, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, multiple officials familiar with the matter told CNN.

The SDF forces thought the drone was Turkish, the officials said, and shot it down because they believed it posed a threat. Turkish-backed militants have been clashing with the US-backed SDF forces in northern Syria in recent days, in areas that have been under Kurdish control for much of the last decade.

The accidental shootdown of the multimillion-dollar drone underscores the chaotic nature of the fighting in northern Syria right now.

CNN has reached out to the SDF for comment.

Senior US officials have been in regular contact with their Turkish counterparts to urge deconfliction, and the US helped broker a ceasefire agreement on Tuesday between the SDF and the Turkey-backed forces in which the SDF agreed to withdraw from the Kurdish-controlled city of Manbij.

Syrian rebels will not pardon those involved in torturing prisoners, militant leader says

From CNN’s Kareem El Damanhoury and Kareem Khadder

Syria’s rebels will not pardon those involved in torturing prisoners under the Assad regime, their leader said on Wednesday.

Mohammad al-Jolani, who is head of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the main group in the coalition that overthrew the regime, said: “We will not pardon those who were involved in the torture and killing of detainees and were the cause of this.”

“We will pursue them in our country and demand that countries hand us over those criminals who fled in order to achieve justice against them,” said Jolani, in a statement shared by Military Operations Command, the rebel coalition.

Earlier, Jolani said the rebels would make public a list of names of senior regime officials “involved in torturing the Syrian people.”

“We will offer rewards for information on senior military and security officers involved in war crimes,” Jolani said.

Then you(Iran) should have got out. lol

Sry, but I assumed your position is the same as the state's position.

But you didn't, why? b/c you need to support Bollah.

You think its bad now? I have a feeling that this shit the Israelis are doing is not directed towards Syria, as much as Southern Lebanon, that 60 day ceasefire is not gonna last, Netanyahu is Greedy, he will make another attempt at Lebanon with Trump in power, and this time likely without strategic depth in Syria, no supply line and better geographical positioning. If Hezbollah falls, then the Lebanese will likely be angry at you(Iran) for leaving them hanging. So you got more possible BS coming your way.
Israelis know and have admitted that Hezbollah is too big to be destroyed entirely. Israel dealt significant blows to Hezbollah and should 'take the win'. I don't think they have much interest in restarting that front right now.

That's the second time you've posted this false tweet. Jolani’s clothing brand is a Chinese brand called EmersonGear, not Israeli.

If the money comes from somewhere, then in 2024 I don't think their is a dearth of weapons

From Turkish drones and Chinese options, hell this might even be a great opportunity for Pakistan everything from JF17s to AK tanks or Fatah missile systems,
