Syrian Civil War and The future of Syria after liberation

Hehe, they have something in common with their Turkish brothers in the end of the day. Back in their time, before Russia and the Balkan nations destroyed them, the Ottoman militia was doing the same thing all around the Balkans. It is interesting that Ataturk broke their spirit and tried to westernize them as much as possible, but still some Turks are actually supporting and cheering up for those guys. The Bashi-bazouk spirit still lives, but this time they are looting from the Muslim, not from the Christians.

To everyone who wants to understand what happened in As -Suwayda:
This is a complete translation of the chain of researcher Charles Leicester on the recent As -Suwayda events and is considered one of the most accurate and sincere and neutral interpretations of what happened

On July 11, gunmen attacked a vegetable truck on the Damascus -As -Suwayda road, attacked the driver and stole the truck. The next day, Druze gunmen kidnapped 8 Bedouins, and the Bedouins responded by kidnapping 5 Druze.

On July 13, negotiations failed and heavy fighting erupted in the west of As -Suwayda and in the city. Druze villages were bombed and Bedouin areas - about 30 people were killed and more than 100 wounded within 24 hours.

On July 14, the Syrian transitional government intervened for the first time, and forces from the army and the interior deployed to impose the regime, despite the previous agreements that prevented it from entering the As -Suwayda.

On July 15, Druze and Christian leaders and a local civil council announced a ceasefire, and invited government forces to control security. After about 30 minutes, Hikmat Al -Hijri refused the agreement and called for the continuation of the fighting. Almost at the same time, Israel resumed its strikes.

Government forces were subjected to ambushes in nine simultaneous locations inside the As -Suwayda. Until the evening of July 15, 118 deaths were recorded: 41 government forces, 7 of the pro -Druze militias, 19 Bedouin militants, 49 Druze militants, and 2 civilians.

The collapse of the ceasefire on July 15 led to the escalation of violence in As -Suwayda, with reports of field executions and violations committed by government forces. American mediation with Israel and Damascus began, but despite the request to stop the strikes, Israel continued to bomb it unchanged.

Despite the presence of other Druze gunmen, the main nucleus of the resistance against the government was the "Hijri military council", which was established 24 hours after the fall of Assad and includes three of the previous regime's generals. This council is the local partner of Israel.

Regional intelligence services assess that the Military Council still maintains the basic control of the drug trade dating back to the era of Assad (Captagon, Heroin, Crystal Met, Hashish). Coincidentally, the Jordanian army fought two clashes against smugglers from As -Suwayda on July 15.

Leicester said that he met Hakam Hijri in February, and the latter expressed a clear hostility towards the transitional period, describing it as "terrorist takfiris", and hinting on his openness to "external protection" (Israel). When Leicester asked fighters close to Hijri about the Captagon trade, they ignored the question.

The fighting lasted until July 16, with an escalation in the Israeli strikes, while the Syrian government forces continued to advance - as they took control of the city of As -Suwayda and regained the town of Qanat, which includes the Hijri headquarters complex.

At this stage, Israel targeted the Syrian Ministry of Defense in Damascus twice, killing three people.

Israel bombed the vicinity of the presidential palace and several Syrian military bases, and continued to strike inside the As -Suwayda. Then a second truce was announced by Druze and Damascus leaders.

But for the second time within 24 hours, Hakam Al -Hijri refused the truce that the rest of the Druze leaders agreed, and called on his fighters to continue the fighting. Minutes later, Israel resumed its strikes targeting government forces throughout the As -Suwayda.

This rejection caused great dissatisfaction among other Druze leaders; Sheikh Yusuf al -Jarboua accused Al -Hijri of trying to monopolize the leadership, and Layth Al -Balous considered him a sabotage element that endangered the As -Suwayda.

By American, a third truce was reached within 36 hours, according to the same conditions that Al -Hijri rejected in the past two times. The essence of the agreement: the withdrawal of government forces and the surrender of security to the Ministry of Interior and the local Druze forces.

This agreement indicates that the As -Suwayda will gradually merge in the transitional Syrian state, with the Ministry of Interior taking part of the local security department - which means a significant reduction in Hijri's influence.

Lester confirms that all the hundreds of victims and the escalation of sectarian hatred - could have been avoided, as a comprehensive agreement was reached 48 hours ago, but Al -Hijri refused and Israel interfered with the situation.

Lester warns of misleading: within only three hours, reports spread Slugs in a hospital, uprooting hearts, burning women and neighborhood children - all of which look fabricated. Please be careful.

According to the oldest observatory in Syria, 6-8 % of the victims confirmed in the As -Suwayda since July 12 are women and children, while the fighters constitute 76-84 % of the dead.

"Israel will not stand idle in light of the possibility of a threat across the border." The Israeli president is defending his country's strikes for the Syrian capital, Damascus, noting that the Druze in Syria "is in imminent danger," as he put it.

David Corridor:

The goals of Israel today are the occupation of Daraa and As -Suwayda with an facilitation from some of the Druze of the southwest, then through the Free Syria Army, which is supervised by the United States of America in the Al -Tanf region, then the establishment of a corridor from Israel to eastern Syria, the areas of Qasd control and the Kurdish areas in northern Syria.

I hope Turkey will do as they say to rebuild and modernize the Syrian Military.

Syria will not be allowed to rebuild her military. That is the reality of where Syria is now. Anytime, Syria makes progress on this rebuilding effort, eg a new airdefence system or new jets, then they will get bombed and destroyed. Lets not kid ourselves. Syria can only rebuild its military if a military power is prepared to provide Syria with cover, and military guarantees ie get involved against Israel if required, and during that period, Syria can rebuild. I dont see Turkey doing that, and Russia has washed its hands of Syria. Who are Syria's allies that will step in and help defend itself ?

This is a new reality that Syria will probably need to accept, ie it has become a Lebanon where Israel can and will bomb at will anywhere it wants, for any reason and for that to be unchallenged at any level.

It will take time, the first thing that must be done is the consolidation of the country. The Israelis are not going to be able to disarm anything, just like they have failed to disarm hezbollah. The Houthis themselves haven't been disarmed. This is going to take time, you can't airstrike your way into disarmament, especially when the other side goes underground and starts developing more of a nonconventional force.

Building of a conventional army comes after consolidation regardless.

But they themselves brag about it! It's their own history! 😂

Dude, are you in denial? HTS was Nusra which was AQ which was black caliphate.

So many of the groups involved in what's now the Syrian government, were actual radical groups and hardline gangs.

What do you mean nobody cares nowadays, lol!!! They just took power. Doesn't change what they were and still are. The only difference is that now they rule the country.

Just like the Taliban. They were backwards barbarian radicals. And now they're backwards barbarian radicals who rule a country.

“They were, he was” like you said its the past. They are no more and there is no sharia law in Syria either.

So stop spamming and trolling and dont spread hate against muslims here.

Hate against certified terrorists equals hate against muslims? Where does Islam equal terror?

You guys have a very short memory when it suits you. You think Jolani and his friends, certified and proud jihadist islamist groups, changed into benevolent civilized rulers in 6 months?
