Tension around Taiwan: China sent 26 fighter jets

2040 was the deadline with some saying 2028 could be an intermediate deadline if conditions allow. Seems like conditions are moving things ahead of schedule if true. Corrupt generals were a major barrier for China and those have been dealt with.

If china did that. and with the strait of hormuz closed USA will be in very very very bad situation. china then needs to ban rare earth as well..

TSMC supplies the overwhelming majority of advanced chips to the U.S., with estimates showing that over 90% of the world’s cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing capacity is concentrated in Taiwan, primarily at TSMC. The U.S. semiconductor industry is heavily dependent on these imports, especially for high-performance chips used in AI, defense, and consumer electronics.

China taking little Taiwan is achievable. But North Korea taking South Korea? Come on!
Agreed. South Korea's population is larger than the North and no way will they willingly integrate into Kim's weird cult society.

Wouldn't hurt if China landed on Diaoyutai/Senkaku island first to provoke Japan.

It would be better for China to seize Diaoyutai/Senkaku islands instead of getting into military confrontation with Taiwan in order to relieve tension in the Mideast by draw in US attention. Also, at the same time, get Russia to put military pressure on north Japan islands to further bog down JSDF. In this way, China can take back the Diaoyutai islands and avoid bleeding among Chinese.

Too many newspaper are reporting unusual acitivty of Chinese military near Taiwan.
Is China thinking to takeover Taiwan while US is busy fighting Iran?
This is merely routine training for the PLA—nothing out of the ordinary.

To determine whether the PRC has truly decided to use force against Taiwan, there is one crucial yet often overlooked indicator: whether the mobile units of the PAP (People's Armed Police) stationed within mainland China have begun unusual movements, specifically massing along the southeastern coast.

Internationally, observers typically base their analyses on the movements of the PLA. However, this approach is, in reality, of limited utility.

The PLA forces deployed in the vicinity of the Taiwan Strait are extraordinarily large, and their routine training is exceptionally intensive. These standing forces already far exceed the response capabilities of the ROC military. Even if one were to factor in the forces from the U.S. and Japan that could be rapidly mobilized in the surrounding region, they would still be insufficient to counter the PLA's current standing forces in the Taiwan Strait. From the PLA's perspective, should the Central Military Commission issue the order, they could launch an assault on the island of Taiwan at any moment—requiring a preparation time of merely a few hours.

The true critical factor lies in the mobilization and assembly of the PAP.

Once the PLA has struck key military bases on Taiwan, executed a landing, and begun its advance, it will inevitably face the brutal reality of urban warfare. Such combat scenarios, however, constitute the PAP's specific area of expertise. Furthermore, given the PRC's consistent assertion that Taiwan is an integral part of Chinese territory, the deployment of the PAP to address "internal security issues" is deemed a legal and jurisdictional necessity. Conversely, utilizing the PLA to resolve such "internal security issues" would carry a significantly higher risk of inflicting heavy civilian casualties.

China should land permanently on Diaoyutai and build it out like the South China Sea Islands. Build an actual city on it.

But, China will take over Taiwan by non-peaceful means only if Taiwan is about to be permanently separated from China either by Taiwan's own actions or by foreign force occupation. These scenarios are specifically stipulated in China's Anti-succession Law drafted against Taiwan succession. The drills are just to keep Taiwan on the track from separation.

China Coast Guard Ships Enter Japanese Waters off Senkakus

Mar 16, 2026 12:17 (JST)

Naha, Okinawa Pref., March 16 (Jiji Press)--Two China Coast Guard ships entered Japanese waters off the Senkaku Islands in the southernmost prefecture of Okinawa on Monday.

As the Haijing ships attempted to approach a Japanese fishing boat, the Japan Coast Guard moved to ensure the boat's safety and warned the Chinese ships to leave the waters, according to the Japanese organization.

The incident marked the first confirmed entry of any Chinese government ship into the waters around the Senkaku Islands since Feb. 10.

The two ships entered Japanese waters around Minamikojima in the island chain around 5:30 a.m., according to the Japan Coast Guard's 11th regional headquarters in Naha, the capital of Okinawa.

The Japanese-administered islands, called Diaoyu in China, are claimed by Beijing.

If the US doesn't beef up there, it would just change the thinking of the Taiwanese. I don't think China will spend its goodwill and non-combatant policy for that.

China will take over Taiwan by non-peaceful means
Conversely, does the PRC consider “peaceful” means to include economic coercion, and industrial, digital sabotage?

Agreed. South Korea's population is larger than the North and no way will they willingly integrate into Kim's weird cult society.

It is the admiration of the superpower, since some South Koreans have also expressed their opinion that they would only want to be ruled by a superpower, if not the US, then it gonna be China.

They always tend to look down at their impoverished brother from the north.

Don't know. I think non-peaceful means military actions.

No South Korean says they want to be ruled by China. They are super racist against China.

South Koreans only respect the strong, once they realize who is the strongest nation, they will be more obedient than a chihuahua toward their new master.

And you will be surprised that a lot rich South Korean kids are now living in Shanghai and China's other rich coastal cities. In the meantime, they are not willing to establish themselves in the US.

While those super anti-China South Koreans are mostly from the lower class who got brainwashed by the anti-China media controlled by the pro-US faction.

However, the rich South Koreans are not that dumb.
