Musk’s announcement means that even existing Tesla owners who haven’t purchased FSD will be able to try it out for a month. As of this writing, Tesla’s Full Self-Driving capability costs $12,000.

Tesla’s one-month free trial period of FSD hints that the company has significantly improved its autonomous software. Tesla is also taking precautions with version 12 of FSD. In a leaked email, Elon Musk updated Tesla’s delivery process, requiring employees to provide FSD V12.3.1 rides to new customers taking delivery.
