Take a look at Cybertruck and Full autonomous driving to get an idea of how wildly inaccurate Mr Musk's predictions are. He is engaging in marketing, something he is very good at.
 
Even 50,000 is unrealistic, especially at the timeline given.

Irs not gonna see wide spread adoption by 2026, its just not.

I doubt anything costing over $1000 gets "widespread adoption" in the first year.
Even the iphone which has yearly sales of 200M only had 6M in the first year.

This isn't a phone.

This is a robot, and there is no guarantee it'll even come close to the capabilities it's claimed to have.

Tesla has 1 year to fulfill its promise, and its still nowhere near close to finishing its development.

I doubt it will even be marketed to consumers in the first year. Just like the Semi corporate customers will be the first before any independent trucker sees it ever listed on a page where they can buy it.

Tesla might have all but finalized the design for its Optimus V3 humanoid robot, at least if rumors from China prove accurate. As per recent reports, Tesla has reportedly placed a large order of linear actuators for humanoid robots from a Chinese supplier, with deliveries expected sometime in the first quarter of 2026.

The volume of orders suggested by the reports from China suggests that the components will not just be used for Optimus prototypes.

The rumor


As noted in a report from Sina News, media outlets across China have recently reported that Tesla has placed a $685 million (5 billion RMB) order for linear actuators from Sanhua Intelligent Controls. The components will reportedly be used for the production of Optimus, which will likely be mass-produced in its V3 iteration. The reports claimed that the delivery of the actuators will likely start sometime in the first quarter of 2026.

Industry watchers have estimated that such a volume would be enough for about 180,000 Optimus robots. This suggests that while Tesla might not be able to start the initial production of its humanoid robots this year, the electric vehicle maker might be able to hit the ground running with its Optimus production next year. And as hinted at by Elon Musk’s comments on X, Tesla seems to be preparing to produce Optimus V3 en masse.

Company comments


The reports of Tesla’s alleged actuator orders have resulted in Sanhua Intelligent Controls’ stock rising. Interestingly enough, a Tesla China representative has stated that “no official information about this order that could be disseminated externally.” A representative from Sanhua, on the other hand, simply stated that the company’s robotics business is progressing smoothly, but they could not comment on market rumors.

While these reports are rumors for now, there are some optimistic hints that Tesla might have all but finalized the design for Optimus V3, and the company might be looking to start the robot’s production. For one, Sanhua is already a Tesla supplier, providing components for the company’s electric cars. A report from The Information also alleged that Tesla is no longer looking to produce 5,000 Optimus robots in 2025. This was reportedly due to challenges in the robot’s hands.

If Tesla is really starting to order large volumes of components for Optimus’ production, it would suggest that the company might have overcome the challenges it was facing with the humanoid robot earlier this year. It would then not be farfetched if Tesla were able to start the initial production of Optimus V3 next year.

Elon Musk wants to bring the production of its Optimus robot to the US amid electric carmaker Tesla’s plan to pivot towards manufacturing humanoids, smart machines that could one day serve as part of the workforce at American factories.

That ambitious initiative, however, was expected to remain dependent on China’s vast and fast-developing robotics supply chain into the foreseeable future, even as the final assembly of Optimus would be established in the US, according to analysts and industry insiders.

As early as three years ago, Tesla started sourcing and engaging with hundreds of Chinese component suppliers, working closely with some on research and development as well as hardware design, according to people who are not authorised to publicly discuss these collaborations.

These suppliers had shipped small batches of sample components to Tesla in response to the client’s feedback. New prototypes of Optimus’ curved-glass head, for example, were sent to Tesla by one of these sources in recent months.

Those companies saw themselves, according to the people, as part of an emerging “Optimus chain”, which would mirror the formidable component supplier networks set up by the likes of Apple and Tesla in China.

Manufacturing partners – spanning suppliers of actuators, motors, reducers, bearings, vision systems, sensors, screws and batteries – now vied to secure a place in that chain, hoping to land orders that could lift sales and the profile of their businesses.

Optimus begins production​

That Optimus is now in production at Fremont, California (using production space previously used for Model X and Model S electric vehicles), is a landmark development. Still, it's not a pivotal moment for the company. As Musk has made abundantly clear, initial production is only the start of a lengthy and challenging process of scaling production in preparation for commercialization.

Speaking on the recent earnings call, Musk said Optimus "will be the biggest product ever" and that "the production scaling challenge is very substantial. This is going to be the hardest product to scale manufacturing that we've ever made at Tesla."

Why Optimus production is challenging​

It's not hard to see why that might be the case: As Musk notes, "Everything on the robot is new," and there isn't a supply chain in place to build Optimus or any other robots of its type. Therefore, Tesla has had to "build up a supply chain in its entirety" or take production in-house, according to Musk.

The challenges are many. For example, Tesla is ultimately aiming to use Fremont production to create a manufacturing template for scaling at its Giga Texas factory in Austin, Texas, which will be its mass production plant dedicated to Optimus. However, generating the production momentum needed to standardize processes and reduce unit production costs could be difficult if Tesla continues to face supply chain constraints.
 
I dont think the economy need this. Walking, running have already replaced by motor cycle, cars, public transportation. While specifict work have already been handled by robotic hands, robotic machinery in the factory, industry.

Agriculture in developing countries dont need it, they still lack of tractors, specifict machinery etc that work more efficient than robot

While for military, it is maybe useful
