Yes, it makes 0 sense. If built the road only benefits China. Unlike Vietnam which is complementary to China manufacturing ecosystems, Thailand manufacturing relies on Japan. And everyone knows Japanese manufacturing is in decline. Same for Germany.
That’s why Thailand trade volumes with China is only half of Vietnam to China. That imbalance will only get bigger. Thailand manufacturing has no future. they should focus on tourism or I don’t know.

Don't listen to the sour Indian BS. Look at the map. If the canal or bridge is built in Thailand, it not only benefits China, but also many ASEAN countries including Vietnam, also Japan, South Korea and even Americas too. Feasibility is another matter that has to be considered.

How can Vietnam benefit from Thailand-China road? We have roads, highways, railway, air freighters, sea lanes to China directly, you mean we transport goods to Laos then Thailand then using the road to China?

Yes, that’s a possibility.
But I don’t think Vietnam will give money and technology to Thailand. We have 0 interest to help Thailand manufacturing. That time saving will not offset the risk. Let China or the Japanese do it.
