What do you think they are upto ? All this violence in KP, Baluchistan and now AJK seems to me engineered upto to a point.

1. Remove the current hybrid system and replace with new team

2. Use this violence and instability to create new provinces.

I think whichever online platform I know, we Pakistanis have overwhelmingly voiced in favour of new provinces so I would be sad if people oppose it for sheer hatred of political parties.

It will be a good step for Pakistan in my opinion as smaller provinces are easier to manage. PTI was always in favour of such initiative so I hope they stick to their words and support such idea, if it does happen

Imagine you have 50 kids, and have 5 babysitters to take care of them, but they are way in over their heads.

You can either hire 20 more babysitters, or actually find out why the existing 5 are trash and then either hire better ones or make some structural changes.

Hiring 20 more of the same trash babysitters just means you have to spend more on their salaries while your problem is still there. Har babysitter ko khana dena hai, phir pick drop deni hai, phir nakhray uthanay hain...

Under constitutional rule by civilians, yes smaller provinces could help Pakistan and strengthen the federation.

But with the army calling the shots, I don't think it makes a difference if there are 4 provinces or 40.

Martial law is out of the window unless its really needed, and this is the same as any other nation around the world.

The current regime will stay, but are being pressurised to accept major reforms, PPP is already making noise.

Why would military use violence and instability to create new provinces, the violence in Fata is with TTP wanting autonomous region pre 2001 style, Balochi rebels always hated Pakistani state, they want their own communist state, AJK people protests are against local dacoits but now some ethnic nationalists are trying to exploit it, these guys were always here but now found their moment to shine. Hopefully our rulers finally realise that trouble makers exploit the people because of the people grievances, and its state responsibility to give basic rights, security, safety to win people over.

I think the military/establishment or their allies always wanted major reforms but they cannot do it without political parties and people support, General Mushraff mentioned many times about reforms but failed to do anything himself, then Pakistan Awami Tehreek leader Dr Tahir ul Qadri held long march and conferences all over Pakistan for 8 years to encourage major reforms, more provinces, for better governance, stability, to devolve power etc, Imran Khan PTI then jumped on the train for reforms and took all the credit. That original plan is still being implemented, the educated and patriotic Pakistanis know Pakistan needs major reforms to upgrade the state for the next 100 years.

Definitely, Pakistan needs minimum 32 provinces, to devolve power, we also need major reforms to upgrade the state, electrol system, governance system etc. Some ethnic nationalists will oppose it but it's the government job to convince everyone that having more provinces doesnt mean Punjab or any other province will be divided, its for Administrative purposes, just like Lahore is one city but it has LA1 LA2 etc, same with Karachi and other cities. Punjab can be one province but just divided in similar lines. Not sure what they will do with provincial assemblies, will we keep one main assembly for 4 provinces or local assemblies.

Pakistan needs some clean and honest professionals/technocrats inside the provincial assemblies, to make sure legislation are passed with alot of brainstorming and debates, same with National Assembly. But your correct it wont solve the main problems, for example in each constituency we have local teams, some are elected, in our ends they call them chairman, but they do corruption aswell so its local dacoits looting rather than regional or national. Accountability of the rulers is a must but its risky for our rulers because what if they grab the same rulers in just say 10 years down the line.
