The Red line and new provinces.

@Starlord

Karachi needs to be separate city state, as does its sister-Mumbai- in India. Just this one measure would do wonders for economic growth in both countries.

Karachi can not be a state, it can be given under federal Govt, but it can not ran like it is right now that's for sure, Karachi should not have been this big and overcrowded in the first place, we should've Karachi like (not in its current form) cities in each provinces like KPK/Baluchistan/Punjab/Gilgit, no one should have to leave their families to move to Karachi for work, the opportunities must exists near them so they can develop rest of the Pakistan. Karachi and Gwadar must be given to Federal Govt, and states must be divided into small states or administrative blocks, power must be given down to local govts, but its a fools dream specialy in country like Pakistan, we already have chitiya Sindhi Party PPPP who is gonna mount a strong opposition for dividing Sindh, they know that they have done JACK shit in rest of Sindh and not even their own families want to live in those shit holes cities of interior sindh, so they buy properties in Lavish areas of Karachi so their bratty kids can enjoy some form modern living.

@Starlord

Thanks, that was a useful insight.

Yes, you are right. Maybe it can be a city state sort of thing under Federal control, with a strong municipal corporation to oversee urban affairs.

we should've Karachi like (not in its current form) cities in each provinces like KPK/Baluchistan/Punjab/Gilgit,

Well, you have a point there of course. But Karachi has a manifest destiny of being the primary port city and financial capital city of Pakistan and by default attract the best talent of the entire country.

As far as Sindhi feudal lords are concerned, once Karachi is freed of the provincial yoke, they will be less dangerous to the city.

I know it can be done as I've witness it myself, during Mustafa Kamal mayorship, we have seen a much organized Karachi, I have seen myself (no joke) those big street cleaning trucks after midnight cleaning many streets, i have seen workers picking up trash, i have seen several small/medium size development projects started and completed but his success was stupidity abrupted by that idiot Fat toad sitting in London because he starting to lose fame, more Karachiites were praising MK rather than Atlaf hence he was removed, PPPP and Sindhi's have created a gand in Karachi, they don't love the city, they would rather build their mansions in the isolation of Sindh Areas but they hold properties in Karachi.

I was never a fan of expansion of Karachi, here we joking say that Tampa is 1 hour away from Tampa, and that is even after good roads of Florida, Karachi is 2-3 hours away from Karachi at this point, I remember that from my house in Karachi the beach is a long tiresome drive of 1-2 hours if you get lucky, its only 13-15 miles, the same distance i cover every day to get to my office, and i do it in 20-25 mins max. Karachi was and i hate to use this word, R@ped by PPPP due to corruption and their inate hate towards the muhajir/migrant community, they just can't let that one community too get more power or position because Sindhi's have failed in building their own cities/villages or providing anything positive towards Pakistan, Karachi was orphan when it was growing, once it establish it position everyone came to claim ownership from those who build it, and now its a shit-hole again no one wants to take its ownership, but given a miracle if Karachi comes under Urdu speaking administration, and it gets better the same rest of these people will come and start claiming ownership again.

Yes, I have heard about the good work by Mustafa Kemal from my Pakistani friends on chowk, a now defunct website. Even people who were otherwise hostile to the Mohajir community/MQM were full of praise for Mr Kamal and his work in Karachi.

Yes he did some good work, and there is no doubt that he can do a better job as mayor or even leading the administrative duty of Karachi under Federal Govt, but lets see if this time Pakistan actually able to make new provinces or this will be all talks no substance.

What kind of shit string argument is this?

More provinces will absolutely benefit underserved areas more. N or PPP wouldn't get the entire budget to waste on specific cities or projects. Imagine more cities getting developed. No amount of sending the military back to the barracks will solve the devolution of power issue.

Make more provinces and cut down on government bloated size and make it more efficient.

Ok what will you do when the Gilanis keep their stranglehold in South Punjab and the only difference is that the CM is in Multan?

You still have the same DC, still have the same THQ, still have the same centralized fund devolution. Think about how government works and what the actual issue is for a second.

More provinces is not a hollow slogan which just increases a number.
