Cancel culture is a tactic as part of the culture war. The left went too far and the electorate pushed back. Trump and MAGA will push their agenda as far as they take it and many are aware that now is a now or never moment to push, and accept the pendulum will swing back, as fundamentally younger people are socially liberal, especially women, as defined by that new poll on goals (what people define as success).
Roe vs. Wade was one example.
All this culture war stuff will advance or recede on the back of how the economy is doing over the next 12 months. Hysteria will die down if the economy faults and people have real priorities to focus back upon. 9/11 hysteria didn’t really fully die down till the 2008 Great Recession.
I will say 911 hysteria still exists today, it hasn't die down in 2008, I mean all you need is to listen to some right-wing pundit rhetoric, they aren't hard to find at all.
The issue with the 2024 election is disenfranchising people. When you look at the total number of votes against voting eligibility, the biggest voting group in the 2024 election is not the GOP, it's people who didn't vote. This created a problem for the Democrats because they were counting on people to do the right thing and come out to vote, they know their base is less than MAGA, which mean when people don't come out to vote, that doomed their campaign, and people don't come out to vote simply because they think voting is pointless because you are talking about Trump vs Harris, honestly, both candidate is bad.
2026 and 2028 are going to be a different landscape, 2026 is going to be a referendum for Trump, if none of his policies (mostly tariffs) are picked up, then GOP is going to lose 2026, and if Trump policy picked up late 2025 and early 2026, then GOP will win regardless of what the Dem throw at them and 2028 will be a referendum for Republicans and MAGA, if people are too sick of MAGA and Republican, then regardless of what is the dem pick.
Unless people are interested in Politics again, we are going to be pulled on both sides of the extreme spectrum, because people are too indifferent to their country and if Trump and the GOP lose in 2026, we can see a more socialist bounce back for the Democrats. Which I personally consider worse than Trump, and you know I hated Trump
