Trump Announces Major Pakistan Trade Deal, Vows Joint Oil Development/Exploration

I think in a lot of discussions about Pakistan, India, America, there is one very critical point being missed in this forum: India is extremely vulnerable to adverse UNSC Resolutions these days!! It can not count on a Russian Veto on a UNSC Resolution anymore. You pretty much know that America, France, Britain and China would vote on one side if Americans wanted against India, while Russia would be a toss up but Russia is not only the same with India-Russia relationship but also Russia is more dependent on China then ever before.
Pakistan currently sits in the UNSC. But even if Pakistan was not sitting, there could be a Chinese backed Resolution over the Indus Water Treaty or even over Kashmir?? I don't think Trump and Rubio mentioned 'Kashmir' without being aware of India's extreme vulnerability in UNSC. And maybe all this 'India-Pakistan' hyphenation is a tactic to milk India as much as possible??

I think this requires a dedicated 'what if' like of thread of its own. The way I see it, all five Permanent UNSC Members have India by the balls to get 'concessions' from India, and India is not an Israel with an automatic Veto or a will to defy if a UNSC Veto passes over Kashmir or Indus Water Treaty.
Unbelievable that Modi has undone decades of pretty smart Indian foreign policy!!

Trump still hasn't announced the percentage of tarrifs on Pakistani goods, you should be watching out for this figure to understand if he's truly serious or just trying to stroke our ego through words

If he gives us a competitive percentage then this will be a practical benefit going beyond meaningless words.

Given the fact that many countries are receiving 20 - 25% tarrifs. Pakistan, if Trump is truly serious beyond just words to be an ally, should give 10 - 15% tarrifs.

This deal is important for the Pakistani economy because it will make our experts competitive in the US market = more money for Pakistan economy & forex.

He’s referring to the major oil/gas discovery in Dec 2024.

It’s extremely difficult to extract it without the right machinery. A Pak-US partnership here will catapult Pakistan in becoming the new Saudi Arabia.

But the technology to extract It has existed for decades? What is the trigger for it now?
Heck ive heard about these massive coastal reserves before as well.

I don’t know what this repackaging is unless it’s something truly new and so now the United States is truly interested.

P.s - don’t forget this means ikhwan are going to start making efforts to sabotage this as well

Offshore drilling requires billions in investment and advanced technology.

Ultra-deep water drilling requires advance drilling, seismic imaging and contouring, managing tectonic complexities and on top of that doing it safely.

Are you telling me only Americans have this tech ? Offshore drilling has been around for many decades now and many countries have this ability. Brazil, Europe, China many should have this tech.

Every deal that's made also has political undertones under it. If the deal is made with the US then its certain it is linked to things like tarrifs and other matters which those other countries cannot offer. Remember most of our exports are to the US if I'm not mistaken. That's the main market. Low tarrifs can massively help it. High tarrif can be very damaging.

Only 6 countries are capable of doing such a massive and complex project and the US is the best in the world.

Most likely Exxon Mobile will lead this project.

I think you guys don’t understand the complexities involved so you ask these kinds of questions.

"DawnNewsTV quoted a senior security official who said a three-year seismic survey, done with a “friendly country”, had mapped a huge petroleum & gas structure in Pakistan’s Arabian-Sea waters. He added that preliminary sizing put it “among the world’s four largest” offshore accumulations, but that drilling would still be needed to prove it." September 2024

Will need to drill to confirm, maybe thats where American company comes in.

Honestly, the 'oil' or 'gas' part of Trump's alleged investment and interest in Pakistan doesn't make much sense to me.
This is very likely a pressure tactic to get concessions from India, at the least. I bet when the American strategists meet and they look at all the options about various nations, then they maybe saying 'Well, what can India do to us if they don't play by our rule?'. And that is so American. So transactional. So cold, calculated. Pakistanis learned it the hard way over the decades. Indians are just starting to learn it. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. But, hey, you were warned!!
