Saar, we’ll do whatever gets us more money, more jobs, and more growth.
That includes buying Russian oil, bargaining hard on tariffs, hedging risks, and giving in if enough carrots are dangled. We’re a baniya nation, ideology comes after the balance sheet.
Yes, of course. "Whatever gets India more money ", including lying, cheating, swindling manipulating visas, anchor babies, and outright illegal immigration . Begging the USA for weapons and support against China in 1962 and begging for military intelligence and diplomatic support in 2020, and then refusing joint naval patrols in the South China Sea as required by the QUAD. Refusing bases, refueling stops, and overflights to US military aircraft, Refusing docking and service facilities for US navy ships.
You are very "intelligent " The old Tamil proverb is extremely appropriate to describe your actions.
"புலியைப் பார்த்து நక్క வాత పెట్టుకొన్నట్లు" (Pulini chusi nakka vatha pettukunnattu).

Picture shows 2 Muslim boys and one possible Sikh.
No those are not Muslim boys. These are Hindus of Central or Western India ( present day provinces of Madhya Pradesh or Maharashtra) wearing the so calleec "Gandhi " caps a common headgear of the region. The person with the turban is not a Sikh. He is cleanshaven with a small mustache. The turban style is from Madhya Pradesh ( paghdi) distinct from the Punjabi dastaar.
A posed picture, given the long shutter exposure times and wet plates of the era.

What are you saying? Pakistan is always America's bitch
Pakistan is America's ally like 40 other NATO and non-NATO allies.
India is Russia's ( and earlier the Soviet Union's) "bitch":who howled to its master to be saved when the US Task Force 7th Fleet led by the carrier USS Enterprise suddenly approached the Bay of Bengal in December 1971. The Soviet guided missile cruisers had to pretend it would save India's butt from being kicked,

Maybe a Kannada saying will strike a better chord with me. Isn’t it very much out in the open, and for a long time now, that we care about our interests first? Yet the West continues to engage with us in an overall positive way. Better to deal with someone whose self interest is visible than with someone who loudly claims altruism.

"and then refusing joint naval patrols in the South China Sea as required by the QUAD. Refusing bases, refueling stops, and overflights to US military aircraft, refusing docking and service facilities for US Navy ships."

Is that supposed to be a criticism, or a compliment to Indian foreign policy? 😂

My familiarity with South Indian languages is limited to a smattering of street "below the belt" Tamil learned from ex-pat "guest worker" in the Gulf and in Singapore's Little India. The proverb is still applicable.
Yes, it IS very much in the open so it is "India First " and "America First "" However Americans are not queuing up for jobs in India or howling about "racism " on revised H1-B visa regulations. For the record, the enhanced scrutiny on H1-B visas is applicable to all countries but the protests are coming only from India. The German techie on assignment at the Bosch Hydraulics equipment facility in the USA is not bothered and doesn't howl "racism " like the Indian keyboard coolie in Silicon Valley l

The West continues to engage with all countries, with the exception of Russia and Belarus. . Why is India so special?
What is meant by "overall positive ".? One thing the west doesn't like about India is the use of business as a tool to manipulate immigration and job visas.

Having a one-way non-mutual relationship is a classic hallmark of swindlers. 🤣

So we’re not allowed to make noise when we feel our interests might be affected? Is that noise somehow irritating others including Pakistanis and we’re expected to care?

The West has complete freedom to issue visas, tighten rules, cancel them, or ban countries outright. It’s not as if India has tied their hands.
Our relationship with the West is transparent. They know exactly what we will and won’t do for them.
Yes, we may be delusional enough to think we’re special and deserve certain advantages. It’s up to the West to deal with our delusions or not. That choice is theirs.

I stopped my wasting time! I would suggest you, please ignore.

Make all the noise you want. It's a brief snapshot in history. India once positioned itself to the West as a regional counterweight to China. Now India is portraying itself as a friend of Europe, China, and Russia, as a counterweight to USA ( Oh for laughing out loud). Your "Jarnail" Bakshi's screams, threatening nuclear strikes on the USA beats any stand-up comedian anywhere.
Pakistanis don't find that noise "irritating " but hilarious.

The West is extremely worried about India. The West knows that ultimately India's demographics, food and energy needs of a projected 2.1 billion people will cause a "bursting at the seams " with a spillage of 1.5 billion people into other less populated regions of the world in the biggest mass migration since the Homo Sapiens left Africa to populate the world.

India's only "peaceful " solution to its over-population and living space problems is migration globally, any which way possible , anywhere, anyhow, India's land mass is too small and its natural resources are too meager to sustain any further population growth. With a land mass so polluted that even in the capital Delhi breathing is difficult, India's current population just wants to leave and pollute other regions of the world.
Apart from mass migration the other temporary option India has, is to recapture a far less densely populated area of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Central Asia. Which is why Ihere is the "Greater India" mural in Indian Parliament.

More air conditioners for Bangalore 🤣

So maybe it's in the best interest of the west to ensure India increases it's income level and solves many of its problems, sounds good to me.. let's see how best they can enable us to achieve that..

Unlikely. so far as India is concerned.
The West tried this successfully with China propping it as a counterweight to the Soviet Union . The Chinese responded enthusiastically and put their ideology of exporting revolution aside.
This recipe is unlikely to work with India.
  • Unlilke China India has failed to control its population growth
  • Unlike China, India has failed to resolve its problems with its neighbors and is in a perpetual state of war with its western neighbor which restricts India's land access to Central Asia and the Middle East besides posing a serious near-existential threat of a nuclear conflict. India's domestic politics which turns its own citizens against themselves is geared to the external conflict with Pakistan.
  • Unlike China, India does not have the military might to permanently ( or significantly) resolve a conflict with its prime enemy to its advantage and create a secure environment for investment and development.
  • Unlike China India is not a secular nation and religion plays a huge part in social political and even judicial matters. China doesn't face religious disputes which result in periodic communal flare ups . No city or region in China has imposed a curfew to control riots for at least 60 years.
  • Unlike China, India is not culturally flexible to create an environment where senior corporate management personnel of foreign corporations ( other than those of Indian origin themselves) can safely live and work in India. Their women and daughters are at risk from abuse.
  • Unlike China India is not homogeneous, and has huge linguistic ,cultural, and ethnic differences from region to region. Language, religion, culture and ethnicity play a huge role in the political economic decisions made by regional governments.
  • Unlike China, India is socially divided on the basis of caste which compromises human resource, development, and undermines merit and talent recognition and development and wastes enormous political capital in wrangling over jobs and employment.
  • Unlike China India has not opened its agricultural and Dairy sector to foreign investment. India has likewise nit opened its retail sector to foreign participation.
  • Unlike China India has mass delusion about its ancient wealth, and grandeur going back 5000 yeaes and unlike China, India wants to turn the clock back 5000 years.

India wants US support without giving anything in return. That is not a "strategic relationship " , but begging or swindling,, or actually both. The USA has got NOTHING from India in return for the economic and military support it has given against China.
Ram ram Baibers_1260 ji,

You are absolutely correct. It is one area where India has learnt a lot, though not quite enough, from Pakistan, especially its military dictators. If you recall, Field Marshal Sahab's favourite President, President Trump Sahab had famously tweeted in his first term that the United States had received "nothing except lies and deceit " from Pakistan.

We learned our lesson much better than India though the aftermath still painfully lingers.
The US President Richard Nixon referred to the Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi very graphically as the "female in the canine species" ( the actual word used was different), after India refused to reimburse the USA for transport costs of PL-480 wheat sent free to ward off the looming famine in India in 1966.. The US President's outrage was justified given the magnitude of the swindle.
So far no political figure in Pakistan has been given that description.

Ram ram Baibers_1260 ji,

In my opinion, such unbecoming remarks, if they were made, would be entirely unjustified, especially since Mr Nixon, who later got his just desserts, was not even part of the US administration in 1966 and until a few years later.
