Tughril-Class (Type 054A/P) Frigate | Updates & Discussion

Capital talk special on Monday will feature type 54 Ship, PNS Taimoor.

Might include some interesting info/details on type-54 ships.

From what I noticed from the show.
The total Anti ship missiles carried are 12, 8 on the mid section and 4 on the front launchers.
Also the navy guy mentioned capability to target at long range, mid range and short range targets.
And the missiles for all these purposes are Pakistani origin.
Either P282 is operational or we have got the TOT for CM302. Which would make a long range vector with range above 500 KM.
I think P282 is operation it's storage complex was built yrs ago. It's the biggest Ace PN have over it's sleeves. Also the Navy guy avoided giving answer at the range which Indian ships can be engaged. But long range mention suggests at least near thousand kms, hence P282

Where did you see that?
Show's supposed to air on TV tomorrow but I guess its are already on youtube.

No mention of this though......
Maybe you got confuse or mixed it up with something else? Or you're talking about some other show?
I am talking about this show, look closely u see will launch doors on the front section below the deck. I compared it with another video of tughrils launch of missiles and it matches it.

Front section is only VLS for SAMs (HQ-16s). Its standard for Type-54s and known for a long time. The officer specifically mentioned that too. Otherwise, if you are not talking about VLS then post a screenshot.

Any follow up order placed for Type 54's ?

PN's dictionary for long range Antiship missiles is anything more than 290 KMs.

PN was operating Harpoons and C802s until very recently, these missiles had ranges of 120 & 180 KMs. PN officers until very recently used to call these missiles as PN's stand off & state of art capability.

I have seen interviews of PN captains of all 4 Tughrils when those ships were inducted, they called CM302 missile as "long range weapon".

So when they are saying about long range vector, he is 100% talking about CM302 and SMASH. He specifically mentioned that media covered the tests which we did recently. The test was for SMASH. So if we want to assume that P282 is operational then that assumption leads to P282 is SMASH. Otherwise, there is no test of P282 that media covered and we missed it here. So, either P282 is SMASH (which is ready & might be operational) OR P282 is simply not developed as of a now.

This is true of all branches in the armed forces, not just navy. They will always compare stuff to previously existing capability. And this behaviour isn't unique to Pakistan armed forces either.

But the "Long range" definition of some fan boys here is very different than what the forces might consider.
