Turkey Said to Seek Membership of Saudi-Pakistan Defense Pact

Sad news if it is true, once again muslim countries unable to deliver something useful into geopolitical arena challenging current patterns. Pitiful.

Turkey did not permit the US to utilize its land and airspace for an invasion of Iraq.
Turkey took full advantage of the US attack on Iraq to invade and seize territory for itself and to prosecute it's own goals in the country v the Kurds. It collaborated with the US in Iraq.
Turkey rejected the pro-Zionist PKK project from Israel and the US in northern Syria until they conceded due to ongoing Turkish pressure
The Syrian Kurds have outlived their usefulness and have been tossed aside by the US and Israel in favor of new projects in Iraq. This has given Turkey the opportunity to go after them. Otherwise the Turks would not dare touch the PKK.
Turkey assisted the approximately 80% majority of Syrians in reclaiming control over their nation, while Israel aimed to keep Assad in power.
Turkey participated in yet another US/Israel project in the Mideast, this time in Syria to to destroy the "Shia crescent" that they perceived as a threat. Turkish services were running Mr Jolani and his gang who were based near the Turkish border, among others. Turks are as responsible for the massive war and bloodshed in Syria as anyone else.
Turkey stands out as the only Muslim nation in the Middle East that is truly opposed to the US bombing Iran.
Ok great. I think it also means Turks are seeing no upside to US bombing Iran or have been provided insufficient sweetners.
Turkey declines to open its bases and airspace for any military action against Tehran, even though it is a NATO member.
NATO is not involved in Mideast or Iran. But if push comes to shove Turkey will ultimately choose NATO, a continuation of its 100 year project to be accepted as part of Europe.
But Turkey "HaS BeEn a fAr dEePeR CoLlAbOrAtOr wItH IsRaEl tHaN ThE SaUdIs"?
Yes.
You have absolutely zero skills in understanding the geopolitical environment of the Middle East in general and Turkish foreign policy in particular. Somehow the Turks are always the ones at fault in your world.
On the contrary, I have credited Turkey for their geopolitical skills in being on all sides of every issue and being able to profit for their country.
They are able to play the East and the West. My hats off to them.

In contrast Pakistani generals have tried to play the same game in Afghanistan for 50 years and all they achieved was setting Afghanistan on fire and burning Pakistan as well. They should be sent to Turkey to learn real geopolitics.

No, not really. The relationship between Saudi Arabia and Turkey is currently in excellent shape. It may not have been this strong in the last 15 years.

Yes, actually. Such political niceties are just a thin veneer over the deep chasm beneath it all. It is the same story with Iran.

What's that deep chasm ? Where do their interests collide ?

This is absolute madness decision by Istanbul. Watching Isreal threatening both Turkey& Saudis and other Muslim countries. If Turkey believes Nato Alliance will protect them. Turkey better “ Hope for the best, prepare for the worst’ mentality. Fools

Turkey doesn't need anyone's help to deal with Israel neither does Pakistan.

Tell me, brother, how can you be certain that this was a decision made by Ankara? Just because I oppose this idea does not imply that Turkish policymakers share the same view.

Saudi Arabia has recently reversed its position on Iran, incidentally received approval for increased defense imports from Washington, and faced direct and public threats from Israeli lobby groups in the U.S beforehand.

It is also quite plausible that Riyadh got spooked and that Ankara insisted on a genuine, long-term, real commitment, which may not align with Saudi interests.

I think the deal was doing too much too soon.

I am interested in knowing your reasons for opposing this idea .
