Turkey Said to Seek Membership of Saudi-Pakistan Defense Pact

Tell me, brother, how can you be certain that this was a decision made by Ankara? Just because I oppose this idea does not imply that Turkish policymakers share the same view.


Saudi Arabia has recently reversed its position on Iran, incidentally received approval for increased defense imports from Washington, and faced direct and public threats from Israeli lobby groups in the U.S beforehand.


It is also quite plausible that Riyadh got spooked and that Ankara insisted on a genuine, long-term, real commitment, which may not align with Saudi interests.

Its sad brother . Really sad. Such a shame and a waste. Turkey and Saudis& Pakistanis had a real opportunity to build a military block.

Honestly this sort of Defensive Pack thing is long past due, for many reasons.

I think it's jumping the gun from me a little bit to blame Saudi Arabia or Türkiye. Apologies brother.

On paper. It seems more like a grouping of rough equals each with their own strengths and weaknesses. I don't see Saudi Arabia or Türkiye dictating to one another on their foreign policies.

Türkiye's is NATO tho, would that have any impact on them joining this alliance ?

this muslim alliance is natural, and "nato membrship" is unnatural for the Turkiye.

Well technically NATO , role does not limit Turkey
Just like NATO member nation USA have deal with India (3-4 Year plan right now)

Turkey has good relations with European NATO Nations and having defence Pact with Saudi Arabia / Pakistan does not hinder any good relations

Pakistan itself has Trade relations with Europe , as well as Saudi Arabia who also deal with Europe.

In fact Saudi-Spanish relations are at Peak never been better. So many Spanish people following Saudi Football and even some players in Spain from Saudi in lower divisions

• Turkey has also shown interest in acquiring Euro Fighter Typhoon

Turkey has no beef with Europe , heck even germans love Turkish Donair now

The defence Pact between Turkey-Egypt-Saudi-Pakistan , possible other nations will ensure a more stable Euro-Asia
