Turkey Syria - News & Updates

Ironically,so does Erdogan claim to be ;)

I guess they've been pushing and pushing for bases and more help to Hizbollah and probably even the Syrians got tired of it. Especially with the Israelis bombing all the time in Syria whenever they found Iranian presence.

Bu kadar yürekten çağırma beni, bir gece ansızın gelebilirim. ;)

I don't really care to be honest, no Air Defense coverage will be in enough density to cover the Aegean and its vast and complex geography in any conflict regardless.

I mean yeah, why does brave "Anti Zionist" Foinikas want to give Greek money to Zios.

No need for that stuff, Greece has Minataur. 😜

I'd like French and other systems, but if they are going for Israeli systems, they might as well buy David's Sling and Iron Dome. Although rumor has it they want Barak MX first.

Army Recognition posted about this superweapon? Michael Bay would love it for a new movie!

Iron Dome isn't going to help Greece. It only works on rudimentary rockets, its not able to work in peer to peer conflict. it wasn't designed for that.

Agreed. Turkey never tested it in combat.

It could be very useful for the islands close to Turkey, where Turkish long-range artillery could be a threat. But I don't think they will go for it anyway.

Its designed to deal with non state actors with rudimentary home made katusha rockets. Not an army thats higher up on the tech chain and has industrial capacity to overwhelm.

Hamas itself was able to overwhelm it confined from firing from only one direction into an area with dense radar coverage.

Its a waste of money try to use that against Turkey. The way to deal with Artillery are loitering munitions and FPV drones degrading and destroying Artillery positions, not trying to shoot every shell down, thats a fool's errand against a regular army. The Shell is far far cheaper than the interceptor and requires a dense radar coverage and several times the amount of interceptors to shell ratio to guarantee interception.

Not to mention the very existence of the Iron Dome battery and radars would incentivize the foe to fire shells and then go radar/battery hunting after seeing the interceptor launch and the radar come online. Thats far more damage money wise, than anything the shell on its own would do.

You need something to defend against all that until you take out the Artillery positions.

Anyway, the rumors have it that the government and Armed Forces are more interested in the Barak MX. And the Puls for artillery

There is a reason no one other than Israel bothered to create something like Iron Dome, nor has anyone(outside of the US buying it to protect bases from Guerilla attacks) bought the Iron done to use against a peer adversary. And its not b/c Israelis are so much smarter and no one else thought about it. Its b/c its a very narrow scenario in which that system works and is needed.

You are not going to be able to defend anything from a peer adversary using Iron done.

Good, then we're going for Barak MX or Spyder.

Yeah alteast those are more useful. But even that is not going to be significant. The Aegean is vast and had an insane amount of blind spots for Radar coverage and density, limiting the effectiveness against Sea Skimming missiles and other various loitering munitions. On top of which the biggest issue is that Greece does not produce these missiles, so is dependent on replenishment from an external source.

If the Greek Policy makers were smarter they won't not invest in "We buy this or we buy that" but "we make this or we make that". Atleast get local production in a transfer of tech deal.

That's a big problem,because of the politicians.
