It really is fitnah. I doubt both sides want to kill each other. They're being used by outside powers whom interests take priority over theirs. And prevent a better compromise.

From logistical pov, this opposition coalition can't hold ground. And neither side will be allowed to overcome one another. It will become stalemate again but hopefully result in a ceasefire and keep that continuing. It's not worth it for these countries to experience more war.

The opposition forces use some kind of loitering/cruise missiles (?) against Assadists.

Ok this is some new level shit. lol

I don't remember jet powered drones and missiles in the last few clashes, I think there are special forces embedded that are helping with operations.

They seem to be prepared this time.

You're partly right. Never underestimate the ability of Turks to learn from their past mistakes and return even stronger. That's basically our history.

This operation itself was prepared meticulously and it shows. The forces on the ground act smoothly and advance very professionally. This time Russia, Iran and Assad are facing a military force rather than a bunch of village idiots with AK47s.
It's only logical to gain experience and have better strategy and tactics.

The Syrian Army has been...from at least 2013-2014 as far as I can remember, very poorly equipped. Except for a few units, the majority of the army had outdated gear.

If you allow me to share what I remember from all the videos and photos from the war back then. Because since the start of the war I used to follow the news about battles and stuff all the time,I used to check sites,FB groups,I still have a big collection of photos from the war and lots of videos. Could have had more, but after a point I was tired of it.

Anyway, the majority of the SAA had no combat vests, many had old helmets,no modern rifles,no nightvision equipment.

Only a few units or individuals had full body armor, nightvision goggles or AKs with scopes on.

The other problem, which I believe has been overlooked in this conflict,is that the SAA lacked modern armored vehicles and MRAPs.

How many times have you seen or read about Syrian soldiers going to war in urban warfare or long convoys with just technicals? They had to clear out entire cities with just BMPs and tanks. Imagine how many Syrian soldiers and militia would have survived if they had MRAPs and armored cars. I've seen videos from Iraq where soldiers and journalists are saved by the armored glass or the fact that they're inside a MRAP or an up-armored Humvee. Sniper shots on the humvees and other armor.

But the lack of APCs in the Syrian army cost them so many lives.

The other thing was that after the Russians got involved in the war in 2014,they didn't provide the Syrian Army with enough modern equipment. Back then I thought that as an ally and protector, the Russians would give the SAA tens of thousands of new helmets, body armor, new uniforms etc. They didn't even provide them with hundreds of MRAPs. The Americans give their allies or proxies armored vehicles, they give them personal gear and make sure they have a better fighting chance.

The Russians gave them a few T-90s,a few Tigr,a few select officers and units did get special equipment...they did get a handful of BTR-80s and BTR-80As,some T-62s and that's it. I was so disappointed. I thought the Russians would try to impress the West and show them that they have the equipment and money to help their allies.

They deliberately attacked civilians, destroyed schools, homes, hospitals and civilian infrastructure. When met with resistance, suddenly the ummah card is played and Türkiye is evil.
