Turkey to build bomb shelters across the country

When you calculate it's like 1000 shelters for a population of 1 million.

I live in Çankaya/Ankara, it's near 1 million. So, there should be 1000 shelters being built in Çankaya alone, however there is no construction at all.

There is only one General Shelter in Ankara and it's below the Ankara Castle, built in WW2. Apart from that there are no general shelters in Ankara.

Another function of modern subways is to serve as wartime shelters.

Most shelters are not distinct, new constructions like in Hollywood movies but rather publicly available infrastructure like deep underground metro stations and rail tunnels, subterranean sports complexes, underground parking garages, cellar spaces in large public institutions, schools, or government buildings and so on.

I believe the government will pour money into new shelter buildings once the rebuilding in SE after the earthquake has mostly finished and some AKP-friendly construction companies need new 'incentives'. Well at least we'll getting something out of it....lol
