Turkish Defence Industry - Exports & News

United States: Middle East Eye reports that the United States and Turkey are in discussions to deepen their cooperation in the joint construction of warships, amid growing challenges for American shipyards in the face of the Chinese threat in the Pacific Ocean. The United States is evaluating the possibility of meeting some of its industrial needs in Turkey.

I don't think people quite grasp how momentous this is for Turkish ship buildings.

Getting export orders to produce Warships for the US Navy. That is a massive contract, and one that will bring in cash that would take Turkish ship building to the next level.

Turkey has a unique case of high quality but cheap production that cannot be matched by anywhere in Europe in Ship building due to cost of workers. Outside of China, South Korea is the leader in this stuff, but Turkey would be able to get a significant amount of contracts. This will propel Warship production to a new level, b/c US shipyards don't have the capacity to produce all the demand that the US is gearing up for to compete with the Chinese Navy in the pacific.

Turkey will build ship components for US warships.

If we beat SK, that will tell us what our level is. Do not forget they are in talks with SK.

I think the South Koreans are getting the contract too, so far they have announced 2 countries. South Korea got announced first, then Turkey.

There is a massive order of ships coming.

Yeah the order coming in are massive to where, one single country cannot satisfy all ship, atleast in the time they need. To match China's ship building capacity they will likely reach out to several countries. South Korea makes the most sense, they are very dominant here. Japan might be another country they lean on.

I'm hoping Turkey asks for LM2500 License production for TEI, it would be significant in expanding Turkey's ability to build Turbines.

Right now only Italy and Japan have this privilege, and I think recently India was given license production. Turkey should ask too.

Canada's Carney: Türkiye is a vital partner in NATO.

There is tremendous opportunity. We have a series of opportunities to deepen our commercial relationship with Türkiye.

I’ve begun those conversations with President Erdogan in New York, and we intend to follow up. That can include aspects of defense cooperation and nuclear cooperation, but it spreads much more broadly.

Türkiye is one of the global leaders in manufacturing, including advanced manufacturing, and there are areas where we can partner without question.

I am so sick of hearing this boring repeated platitude about being a "crucial" NATO partner. Actions speak louder then words.

TUSAŞ General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu explained Saudi Arabia's interest in KAAN and Gökbey:

▪️There are ongoing discussions, including the possibility of producing both KAAN and GÖKBEY in Saudi Arabia with a model that aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.

▪️Our work has been continuing for quite some time, and now the discussions have been elevated to the highest level. In the upcoming process, we hope to share some good news with you, perhaps within this year, or even sooner.

▪️Quantities are also being discussed—20, 50. These are numbers under negotiation that can vary depending on the model. If you want to establish a final assembly line here or go even further, feasibility won't work out with just 20 units.

▪️It needs to be a higher figure—50, 100. These numbers will vary depending on which model is selected and the level of involvement, but it's certain it won't be 3-5.
