Turkish Defence Industry - Exports & News

Contrary to popular belief, they're very arrogant. They don't cooperate with non-White nations. Well, this was their stance in the past making China much more favourable in the eyes of many governments all around the world. Perhaps they realised their mistake but, ofc, selling them Turkish-made weapons should be encouraged.

They in the past have had a very very conservative export policy as part of their constitution, which was written when they were occupied, which prevented them from exporting offensive weapons and an incredible amount of restrictions that no other country had. And they have essentially been US slaves post WW2.

But there is a realignment happening inside Japan currently, the Post War consensus is collapsing, and we may even see Japan return to pre 1945 Japan. The Chinese have been making aggressive remarks, as much as the US China rivalry is played up, I don't think there is any country China hates more than Japan. East Asia is a powder keg right now. Everyone is preoccupied with the middle east, no one is watching things in the Pacific.

There is a Cold War between Japan and China right now, with China applying all sorts of sanctions on Japan with rare earths and magnets, and the Japanese PM saying Japan would intervene in Taiwan(before walking it back), the whole episode sent China in a frenzy, with the banning of japanese products, and banning Chinese tourist to Japan.

Chinese Foreign Policy people like Victor Gao(who is essentially the unofficial spokesperson for the Chinese foreign policy apparatus in western forums), has said repeatedly, that China will never allow Japan to be in the position to be what it used to be, and that it will never allow Japan to build nukes. Japan is a threshold state currently, sitting on the largest stockpile of enriched Uranium in the world, and complete sovereignty over the nuclear cycle, along with development of delivery systems, but Japan hasn't built it because its under the US umbrella, but what happens if the US pulls back, Japan may go nuclear.

ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol:Last year, we succeeded in delivering 286,000 units of products to the end user. You might think that something like the SİPER air defense system is a product.Smart munitions, guided munitions, electronic warfare, radar, and a whole host of other systems. This year, we will deliver over 400,000 products.

They probably would have wanted to buy an american/european system but because their is either a shortage or no alternative system they choose turkish systems.

Reminds me of this:

Canada suspended drone technology sales to Türkiye in 2020 after concluding its optical equipment attached to Turkish-made drones had been used by Azerbaijan while fighting illegally occupying Armenian forces in Karabakh, the Azerbaijani enclave Baku has since liberated.

Last month, it announced it had dropped weapon export controls on drone parts, including the imaging and targeting system, shortly after Türkiye formally approved Sweden's NATO membership bid.

The embargoed equipment included Wescam sensors used in Türkiye's famed Bayraktar TB2 drones. More than 30 countries, including Ukraine, Poland, Ethiopia and Pakistan, have bought the Turkish unmanned aerial platforms after their battlefield successes.

But Ottawa's decision came with a cost.

Months after the cancellation of export permits to Türkiye, Canadian electronic warfare systems manufacturer Telemus Systems Inc. filed for bankruptcy.

The freeze on the electro-optic system prompted Türkiye to capitalize on the opportunity to enhance its indigenous defense capabilities and produce what Aselsan General Manager Ahmet Akyol says are top-tier alternatives.

The company not only filled the technological gap but also emerged as a significant exporter, with its Common Aperture Targeting System (CATS) being sold to multiple countries.

“We have exported our products to 10 countries, with over 178 CATS cameras delivered. We are willing to provide the same product to Canada if they desire," Akyol told an event in the Aegean province of Antalya on Sunday.

SSB Haluk Görgün:

Under the Presidency of Defense Industries, we currently have nearly 1,400 projects underway that exceed approximately 100 billion dollars, and we have nearly 100,000 employees.

“The thermobaric bomb has started to be produced by Machine Chemistry.

1,900 units will be delivered.

The agreement has been signed.

SIVRISINEK ammunition will be manufactured at 150,000 units per year.

The target is 10 million.

In a war, they will send 10,000 of them.No state has ever sent 10,000 up to today. If they send 10,000 to Israel, Israel will cease to exist anyway.”
