Ofc, he's lying.

I don't think Turkey cares about joining the EU. They would never let Turkey in regardless, and certainly not without Turkey giving up Cyprus, which is not worth it.

What would be the benefits of joining the EU?

- You must obey their sanction-policy (against Russia, Iran, Syria, Iraq, Cuba, Venezuela, Belarus etc)
- You must obey their budgetary rules (max 3% deficit of the BBP)
- You must obey their fiscale rules
- You must obey their LGBT-and genderpolicy in domestic politics
- You must obey their counterterrorism policy (Hamas are terrorists, but PKK are freedomfighters)
- You must obey the rules of the European courts
- You must recognize South-Cyprus and all the Greek claims in the Aegean
- You must obey their China-policy (rejecting Chinese investments)
- You must obey their Israel policy (condemning Palestinian resistance, acknowledging Israel's right of selfdefence etc)

What are the benefits?

- The Euro replacing the Lira
- Free trade and ervices with all EU-members
- Free travel to all EU-members (Schengen)
- Custom Union membership with all partners (Norway, Switserland etc)

In my opinion it is not worth. The only ones in Turky who will be happy, are the secular crypto-Greeks of of the Agean coast and the Kurdish orang-oetans from the east because they can travel without visa to work there and make vlogs for likes and subscribes.
