Turkey is deploying F-16s to Cyprus after Greece deployment.

Turkey considering possible F-16 deployment to northern Cyprus

Turkey is examining the possibility of deploying F-16 Fighting Falcon jets to the island of Cyprus as part of security planning linked to the self-declared Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, according to reports in Turkish Cypriot media.

Citing sources from the Turkish defence ministry, the reports say that, in light of recent developments in the region, plans are gradually being drawn up to strengthen the territory’s security, with the possible deployment of F-16 aircraft among the options under consideration.

The same sources say the planning is being assessed within the broader context of regional developments and what Ankara describes as evolving security needs.

Turkish commentator sparks outrage with threats

Turkish threats about Cyprus and Greece have triggered strong reactions following controversial remarks by İbrahim Karagül.

In a social media post, the Turkish commentator issued extreme warnings targeting Greece, Cyprus and Israel amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

Karagül, a former editor-in-chief of the pro-government newspaper Yeni Şafak, claimed that if Israel, with the support of the United States, were to target Turkey after Iran, Ankara would respond militarily on multiple fronts.

Claims of action against Greece

The Turkish commentator suggested that Turkey could initially move against Greece by seizing islands in the Aegean.

He also referred to the “liberation” of Western Thrace and went as far as suggesting the possibility of occupying the entire country.

The remarks form part of broader Turkish threats about Cyprus and Greece circulating in the context of heightened geopolitical tensions.

Cyprus mentioned in extreme rhetoric

In the same post, the commentator issued threats about Cyprus, claiming that Turkey would “take the whole island”.

He alleged that Nicosia had become an “executor of Israel”, further escalating the rhetoric directed toward the Republic of Cyprus.

Random guy on Twitter? He's a former editor-in-chief of Yeni Safak* and still writes articles there. Btw I put it on Turkish Foreign Policy, because he includes Greece,Israel and others too in his rants.

*The newspaper is known for its hardline support of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the AK Party and has a very close relationship with the Turkish government.

The Cypriot Stuff goes here and the Greek stuff in the greek thread.

We try to keep the Foreign policy thread from getting derailed with people arguing about the same stuff over and over again. Its cleaner this way.
