Turkish Sensor and Detector Programs

How come Türkiye doesn’t want to build a dedicated next generation AWACS?

They have sooo many projects in flight right now, that they need to prioritise their resources for things they consider important to them right now based on capability and technology denial. Turkey has mastered all of the key technologies required to build a AWACs through their various ground based, and airbased radars, communication systems and C&C software, so its more of when, not if i imagine.

How come Türkiye doesn’t want to build a dedicated next generation AWACS?

That will happen, but currently there are about 4 Wedgetails. It seems the current priority is electronic warfare and jammers. After which we may see more AWACS.

Our next-generation electronic warfare system, MS23, successfully completed field tests at the Turkish Armed Forces' base in Konya Karapınar.

📍 GNSS jamming and neutralization at a range of 105 km
📍 Intervention on land systems from 17 km
📍 Effective results on different UAV platforms

MS23 has elevated our deterrence in the field of electronic warfare by demonstrating superior performance against both air and ground targets.

Our F-16 Electronic Support Pod is now in the inventory of the Air Force Command!

🛫 The Electronic Support Pod (EDPOD) developed by @tubitakbilgem has successfully completed flight tests against real radar systems and has entered the inventory of the Air Force Command.

🪖 Developed with the aim of reducing our country's dependence on foreign defense technologies, the EDPOD has made a strategic contribution to our electronic warfare capabilities.

🏢 At the ceremony held under the auspices of the Electronic Warfare Command, the opening of the EDPOD Laboratory was also inaugurated.The EDPOD is a tactical electronic support pod integrated with F-16 aircraft, equipped with a radar signal detection system;

🎯 It is an advanced electronic warfare system capable of detecting signals from the enemy's target detection and tracking, missile guidance, and target illumination radars, identifying threats, recording them, and making precise location estimates.

🦾 It was developed with domestic and national capabilities.🇹🇷 It offers superior features compared to equivalent foreign-origin systems.

ASELSAN MURAD AESA radar is being integrated into the sixth platform. The MURAD AESA Nose Radar developed by ASELSAN, the leader of the Turkish defense industry, has completed an important stage in integration and serial production.

Akyol stated, "The number of platforms on which the MURAD AESA Radar is currently integrated has reached 5, and it is being integrated into a 6th platform. We are in mass production. On one hand, it is actively used in both UAVs and aircraft. It is also on the agenda for F-16s and other manned platforms," emphasizing the scope and strategic importance of the project.

Among the platforms integrated with the MURAD AESA Radar system, the ÖZGÜR modernization project of the F-16 fighter jets, which are the main strike force of the Turkish Air Force, and the Bayraktar AKINCI Attack Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) developed by Baykar stand out.
