You know this NATO 5% defense spending requirement is some real funny stuff, Turkey wasn't planning to spend 5% but if its obligated to do so by NATO, then it will Freak the Greeks out.

They are already spending a significant amount more than all the other NATO countries in terms of percentage, having to possible double or triple that to keep parity with Turkey will be a significant hassle for them, especially when they buy the weapons from abroad, rather than make it and recycle the funds domestically in the economy, boosting it. On top of that their economy is not growing as fast as Turkey's so thats an additional pain.

We might see the Greek Public rebel with the cuts they will have to make cuts to social programs to increase defense spending. Its either that or take on more debt to pay for the weapons without cutting social spending, and Greece got into a lot of trouble over debt, not too long ago. lol

There will be alot of commercial opportunities for Türkiye to sell its weapons to the EU countries, as Türkiye was one of the very few countries actively investing in developing new military products, and those are to NATO standards.

If Turkey was not in NATO, they would have been at the receiving end of NATO. Greece would have used their own membership to the max against Turkey.

Given how keen the UK, France and Germany are to "continue" the war, it is the soldiers of these countries that should really be putting their boots on the ground.

Shocking opnion of some people that Turkiye should put its soldiers into a country/war that it is not interested in.
