I am actually surprised to learn the IN doesn’t have active any AIP submarine, something the Pakistanis had for decades.

Yes that is really sad to see that IN till date do not have any AIP submarine... when deal for scorpeans was signed I thought we are getting AIP equipped submarine but not sadly....
Indian military procurement doctrine has always been to go after the quantity rather than quality.

It's an unfortunate by product of leaning more towards the Soviet style of thinking. Coupled with the legacy British way of treating subordinates (Indians) which continues to hound us to this day
Value for life is pretty low in the sub continent and it shows in every walk of life, civilian or military.

Yea Soviets used to win battles and wars by having their mass production power. Even to this day somehow that's happening in Russia.
We overall sufferered from leaning towards the west and the US since our inception but military arms procurement wise we benefitted. Because our budget is limited and we rely more on advanced higher quality weapons in limited numbers.

There are pros and cons to both types of ideologies, but what compounds the cons and mitigated the pros is when we try to follow an idealogy without properly adapting it to our culture and capabilities. Again it plagues all of the subcontinent.

Well some people don't understand that all it takes is a well placed torpedo or missile hit to sink any ship. It doesn't make difference that the firing platform was a P8 or P3 or mirage or something else. India and Pakistan both are quite capable of inflicting substantial damage to each other's navies.
