1. How do you know a 'quick campaign' to eliminate leadership of Hamas was feasible for Israel? How successful were we with ISIS and Al-Queda/Taliban, with lot more resources?
2. How do you know U.S. could restrain Israel any more than what it could? Israel enjoys very strong bipartisan support in Congress and among public. Any more arm twisting would be politically impossible. At least our failures in Iraq and Afghanistan were of our own making. But how much more can one criticize U.S. administration for another country's acts?

The issue here is about the US coming out and saying it is forcing Israel to use this approach versus what Israel wanted to do and did carry out.

Gaza is different from these places, it’s very compact. Moving people into a humanitarian zone, and then taking the time to sweep Gaza would have looked more humane than what Israel chose to do.

Biden, if he realizes that it’s his party on the line, would have to get over the bad press and tell Israel, that damn your “sovereignty”, the US is calling the shots or no ammo.

But Biden looking like he was being ignored, over and over again, cements the Israel exception to all moral things the US claims. This is why Clinton’s recent speech in Michigan fell flat. Camp David and the Oslo accords are effectively dead, right when Russia and China are trying to attract the global south to their side.
