Will Trump slap taxes on goods from all over the world?

The world is scrambling to work out how serious Trump is about taxing the entire globe's imports into the US, from friend and foe.

Not just individual countries, such as China, or sectors, such as washing machines, but everything, from everywhere.

During the campaign he threatened tariffs in all directions to achieve all manner of diplomatic aims, from containing China, to protecting the role of the dollar, and preventing illegal immigration.

Tariff is "the most beautiful world in the dictionary", he said. It is a weapon, a source of leverage, he intends to use.

Some jurisdictions, such as the EU, are already preparing lists of pre-emptive retaliatory actions against the US, after fears they did not take such threats seriously enough from Trump last time.

It poses big questions for the UK too on where it should position itself if there is a transatlantic trade war. Pick a side, or try to be peacemaker?

Trump Tariffs last time cost American farmers billions!

Donald Trump’s election victory will return him to the White House, but both his allies and detractors have made clear his second time around will look nothing like the first.

With the Republican Party now entirely his, its anti-Trump figures banished for good, Trump will enter the Oval Office with both the experience of having done the job before and a wealth of resentments over how he believes the system failed him.

Unlike his first Electoral College win in 2016, Trump is on track to win the popular vote this year — providing him an opening to claim a mandate of nationwide support that eluded him last time, much to his frustration.

“America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate,” Trump told an ecstatic crowd in West Palm Beach, Florida, early Wednesday morning. He summed up his approach to a second term as such: “I will govern by a simple motto: Promises made, promises kept.”

That makes the coming four years uncertain ones that cannot be easily predicted by the first Trump presidency. His rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, tried warning voters of the risks. But to his supporters, the promises of fixing what he called a broken country — even if it means abandoning long-held principles — was the whole point.

Why , she claims she’s black not an Indian?

Yes, I mentioned that..and it is very notable.
very unusual too, I think she's been taking instructions

if Dems are cooking up something to deny Trump's win they must work it quick. very risky move, but they will receive a lot of backings too.

Truth be told the whole world don't want to see another Trump term, barring Russia.

Harris is likely too hung over to get out of bed.
well technically she could still wake up to become president if Joe dies tomorrow:LOL:

Why , she claims she’s black not an Indian?
She has a bit of an Indian heritage. But mostly west indian heritage. She was raised in a African American family. As far as I know. But I could be wrong too.

China to cooperate with US, but rivalry anticipated under newly-elected President Trump

China will work with the US on the basis of mutual respect, it said on Wednesday as Donald Trump closed in on victory in the presidential election, but strategists said Beijing was bracing for bitter superpower rivalry over trade, technology and security issues.

"Our policy towards the US is consistent," foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told a regular press conference in Beijing, when asked how Trump returning to the Oval Office would affect US-China relations.

"We will continue to view and handle China-US relations in accordance with the principles of mutual respect, peaceful co-existence and win-win cooperation," she added.

Chinese strategists however said they expected more fiery rhetoric and potentially crippling tariffs from Trump, although some said his isolationist foreign policy could give Beijing a vacuum to expand its global influence.

"Beijing anticipated a close race in the US election. Although Trump's victory is not China's preferred outcome and raises concerns, it is not entirely unexpected," said Tong Zhao, senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

"The Chinese leadership will likely strive to maintain an appearance of a cordial personal relationship with Trump, while intensifying efforts to project China's power and strength."

Da Wei, director of the Center for International Security and Strategy at Tsinghua University in Beijing, said Trump's victory "may pose a relatively large challenge to Sino-US relations" based on his campaign policy proposals and actions in his previous term.

"Due to Trump's high unpredictability, I think it is difficult for China to say that there is a fully formed plan to do "x" when Trump comes to power. It also depends on what policies the Trump administration implements."

Trump’s axis of influence has shifted greatly since he left office in January 2021. While his daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, were once prominent campaign surrogates and senior White House staffers, they’ve since stepped away from the daily churn of politics.

Ivanka Trump has made clear she has no plans to return to the West Wing, and while Kushner has been involved in the transition efforts, sources familiar with his thinking said he is unlikely to leave his private equity firm.

Instead, Trump has found himself relying on people like Donald Trump Jr., Elon Musk and Susie Wiles throughout his third run for the White House.

What’s your prediction about what Trump will do in the Middle East?
I think it is safe to assume Trump wants the wars in the Middle East wrapped up soon so his son in law Jared Kushner can start investing $2 billion Saudi money (Allied Partners) into rebuilding Gaza and the West Bank into two new big and wonderful Israeli cities.

Do not expect anything good for the Palestinians, Netanyahu is a family friend of the Trump family, going back to Fred Trump.

He also seems eager to reward those who supported him — like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. — even if their viewpoints exist well outside the mainstream. Despite his belief in vaccine conspiracy theories and his antisemitic comments, RFK Jr. said recently that Trump told him he would “fight like hell” for him if Kennedy wants to run the Department of Health and Human Services.

Stung by his experience dealing with agency legal offices, Trump will look to staff the government this time with lawyers who will work to find legal rationale for even his most radical ideas, rather than raise concerns.

From watching biased BBC coverage in the U.K. The British analysts are reporting, With Trump having the numbers in Senate House, Governors and Supreme Court, plus the backing of TOP companies ( tax cuts); He can EASILY amend the constitution and make this NIGHTMARE FOREVER 😂

Trump tariff threat

Trump has proposed tariffs on Chinese imports in excess of 60% and ending China’s most-favoured-nation trading status, and analysts say the prospect of a trade war has rattled China's leadership.

China sells goods worth more than $400 billion annually to the US and hundreds of billions more in components for products Americans buy from elsewhere.

"Beijing is particularly wary of a potential revival of the trade war under Trump, especially as China currently faces significant internal economic challenges," said Zhao.

"China also expects Trump to accelerate the decoupling of technologies and supply chains, a move that could threaten China's economic growth and indirectly impact its social and political stability."

In response, China is likely to intensify its push for greater technological and economic self-sufficiency, while feeling more pressure to bolster economic ties with countries like Russia, he added.

"Going forward, Beijing would likely be drawing up a list of clear bargains and interest tradeoffs that it could float with Washington, in hope that it can focus on its much needed domestic economic concerns whilst Trump's attention is occupied elsewhere," said Brian Wong, assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong who studies grand strategy.

She claims different things depending on her audience. Like any other politician I guess.

Do not expect anything good for the Palestinians, Natanyaho is a family friend of the Trump family, going back to Fred Trump.

Yes, the Palestinians won’t get anything but the million dollar question is if he’ll attack Iran.

In his first term I used to tell everyone that I’m sure Trump will attack Iran, since that’s Netanyahu’s main demand. He didn’t. But now the scene is primed for such an attack.

The whole Anglo-Zionist Middle East policy is based on getting rid of Iran. The whole region will then fall into Zionist control.

LOL - Selfish Zionists don't care about Americans well-being nor policy in America. They're already trying to make it about Israel.
