world s billionaires see record wealth gains with musk topping the list after trump s win

Wednesday marked a significant day not only for Donald Trump but also for the world’s wealthiest individuals, whose fortunes surged to a record high, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index.

Elon Musk, the world’s richest person and a prominent Trump supporter, saw his wealth increase by $26.5 billion, reaching $290 billion. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos also experienced a notable gain, with his net worth rising by $7.1 billion just a week after he defended his choice to withhold the Washington Post’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris. Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle and another Trump backer, enjoyed a $5.5 billion boost to his wealth on the same day.

Additional beneficiaries included former Microsoft executives Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, along with former Google executives Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Although these billionaires did not endorse a candidate this election cycle, many have previously supported Democratic candidates and causes.

All three Muslim members re-elected to US Congress

All three Muslim members of the US House of Representatives have been reelected with commanding majorities, reinforcing their positions as influential voices in the ongoing debate on US foreign policy, particularly regarding Israel.

Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat and the first Palestinian-American woman in Congress, has secured a fourth term representing Michigan’s 13th District.

Ilhan Omar, the first Somali-American woman in Congress, has been reelected for a third term representing Minnesota’s 5th District, which includes Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs.

Democratic Rep. Andre Carson of Indiana, another prominent Muslim figure, was also reelected, securing his seat in the 7th District with 68.2pc of the vote. He defeated Republican John Schmitz.

Back to Europe now, where Ukraine's president says relations between the US and the continent "must be valued and cannot be lost" after Donald Trump's US election victory.

Speaking at a European leaders' summit in Budapest, Volodymyr Zelensky says: "We do hope that America will become stronger."

"This is the kind of America that Europe needs," he says. "And a strong Europe is what America needs - this is the connection between allies that must be valued and cannot be lost."

Zelensky, according to AFP news agency, also tells the summit it would be "unacceptable for Ukraine" and "suicidal for all Europe" if Russian leader Vladimir Putin is offered any concessions.

Where do you think, in America, Zelenskyy will try to seek refugee from the war? I doubt his fellow Ukrainians will want to see him anymore, after the loss of life.

Will Republicans win the House? The outstanding races to watch

The party that will control the US House of Representatives for the next two years is still in the balance.

Republicans were seven seats short of the 218 seats needed to take control on Thursday morning. Democrats need 15 more.

The Senate, or upper chamber, and the White House have already flipped to Republicans so President-elect Donald Trump could have total control when he is sworn in on 20 January 2025.
Control of the House, the lower chamber, gives a party the power to initiate spending legislation and launch impeachment proceedings against officials.

They need to door knock and listen to people instead of telling them what to do
Now they will look to their favorite media channels to explain it to them. I think it will take at least a full year for them to understand.

More Americans have to talk to other Americans of other backgrounds (and similar backgrounds) to hear others concerns and take them to heart as not about hate, but a different way to get to a similar outcome, a better America for all Americans.

Now and other liberals will yell about it too because of trump, they are more useful as opposition then weak authority.
I doubt being the opposition works in case of the US. The defeat was resounding. Dems lost Senate, House and President. Trump hit the trifecta. Dems are going to rethink the whole strategy now.

My experience of cartels is limited to watching Breaking Bad. It was pretty gruesome when the Mexican drug gangs chopped off a policeman’s head and put it on a turtle packed with explosives. As the ATF team was inspecting the severed head on the turtle it blew up killing many of them. That day I decided not to mess with those guys.
Cartel is like cats, they like to mark their territories, and unlike cat, they don't mark it with pee, they mark it with calling cards, and each calling card they leave will be more gruesome than the one before, that was designed to deter the rival gang to even stroll into their territories accidentally.

Other than that, like many other gang, they are actually more discipline and very polite, until the point they don't.

Was Davey Story plausible? Sure, maybe that was really a cartel member, and he is having a jolly good day in a McDonald (which is not where they usually hang out, unless you are talking about some two time gang banger.). But if I disrespect a cartel member and live to tell the story like he does, I will f off to a newsagent and buy a lotto pronto.....

His story is like the one people tells in a pub.

Well, at least the next time the Dem won't need to deal with Trump directly, they spend a lot of time going after Trump and not selling their policy.

I remember the first thing I said here after the Harris-Trump debate, I said, yes, they fully exposed trump as an idiot, but Harris didn't talk about any of her policy, I would like to know more if you want me to vote for her. Everyone can play Trump like a fool, that's why Xi and Putin and the lot like him, that's not going to win you the vote, you need to be able to sell your policy, and I think I said then clearly, they need to get that out there as they only have 3 months, but still all I see is A list endorsement, more Trump attack, and more "Save America" talk.

This is what I said back in September 12

Trump looks shaken from the start; she startled him when she goes into his space and shake his hand. Things went downhill from there.

Pretty sure his debate management told him not to engage with petty barb with Harris and certainly not to talk about unsubstantiated rumor like immigrant eating dogs. But he just completely loses it once Harris goes after his manhood., his rally.

He has to stop Muir and go back and talk about his rally and defend his rally, which have nothing to do with the debate. that moment he lost the thing, bad.

The only thing I would say, or rather why I think Harris "just" win this is because I think Harris did not do enough to show me her policy, she took on some, in the surface, but not enough to convince me her policy would work, she keep focus on making Trump look bad, she did a very good job at that, but she didn't sell her candidacy effectively to me. If she did, she would have won that convincingly

Justice officials in talks to drop Trump criminal cases

Reuters Special counsel Jack Smith, wearing a blue suit, white shirt and blue tie, stands at a podium after a grand jury returned an indictment of former U.S. President Donald Trump in the special counsel's investigation of efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat

The US Department of Justice is in talks with the office of special counsel Jack Smith over winding down the two federal cases he is overseeing against president-elect Donald Trump, according to US media reports.

Last year, Mr Smith brought charges against Trump over the alleged mishandling of classified documents and his suspected role in attempting to thwart the transfer of power after the 2020 presidential election.

But the justice department has a long-standing policy that sitting presidents cannot be prosecuted - which would apply when Trump returns to office in January.

Trump said during the election campaign that he would fire Mr Smith "within two seconds" if he was returned to office.

According to the BBC's US partner CBS News, two sources close to the talks say they centre on rules which prevent sitting presidents from being prosecuted and the need for a smooth transition between the outgoing Biden administration and Trump.

Deciding not to continue with the federal cases before Trump's inauguration in January would also avoid a showdown between the incoming president and the justice department, the Associated Press reported.

Mr Smith was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland in November 2022.

The two indictments brought by Mr Smith accuse Trump of conspiracy to reverse the 2020 election results in the run-up to the 6 January 2021 Capitol riot, and with retaining top secret records at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida and obstructing FBI efforts to recover them.

The classified documents case is currently stalled in the appeal court after a US judge dismissed it on the grounds that Mr Smith was not properly appointed by the justice department. Mr Smith appealed against the ruling and the case is currently pending.

The election interference prosecution has been put on hold after the US Supreme Court ruled that presidents have some immunity from criminal charges relating to official actions. Mr Smith's team revised the indictment in August saying it showed the actions alleged in the indictment were carried out by Trump as a political candidate.

Trump Wants to Deport Millions of Undocumented Immigrants. Cambridge Isn’t Planning to Cooperate.

Vice Mayor Marc C. McGovern doubled down on the city’s commitment to honoring Cambridge’s status as a sanctuary city, which limits its cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.
“Cambridge has been a sanctuary city since the mid ’80s,” McGovern wrote in a statement to The Crimson. “We are a welcoming and supportive community, and I expect us to stay that way.”

Perhaps I only ran into the lower ranks, the ones moving drugs throughout the US.

Sorry about the ATF. I was in the middle of something similar.

You need to understand, I was doing good, acting as a go between right wing groups and the feds.

I was tipped off on a house in Texas that was wired to explode when the FBI came calling. Immediately called up my go to agent and gave him the address and how many barrels of explosives in the house. Enough to cause serious harm to the neighbors. The area was immediately closed off, and a team went in to diffuse the explosives.

After that, my word was gold.

One intelligence officer told me I need to sit down and write a book. Maybe.

It all started a few years earlier when my name was on a hand written list. The two people who was given a check and a note, immediately went to the FBI. They wanted no part of it.

That day my phone was ringing off the hook. I had to see an agent immediately, I was told. The officer showed me the check and the handwritten note with a list of 8-10 people to be killed.

A young woman, at the top of the list went missing. I was told she was likely fed to alligators in someone's pond.

It was that day I went to war against the criminal far right.

Blacks and Hispanics are even more majority working and middle class over Whites and Asians. It’s the economy, as Clinton’s campaign manager use to say in the 1992 election. People need a way to work their way up, for example a way to afford housing.

Bernie is giving the early autopsy on the party. Let’s see if the Democratic Party will heed his words.
Democrats won't so no such thing, because they are paid to lose by the donors (zionists and corporatists)...for them it is a much bigger deal to offend the donors by stepping out of line and wavering from the script given to them than to lose elections. You think Obama would have been $100 mn man had he delivered on all his campaign promises or AOC would have amounted to anything more than a bartender had she not betrayed the progressive ideals and policies and lined up right behind mama bear oligarch Pelosi...

Just listen to all the dem pundits and politicians doing post mortem and disingenuously blaming racism for Harris' loss...when everyone knows the biggest reason for her loss was that Dems since Obama haven't offered anything to the working class, their incomes have continued to shrink and obscene profits led inflation have killed their savings and dwindled their paychecks. Housing has become unattainable for working professionals leave along working class and there is no hope for the future.
