US 2026 Midterm Elections Thread

MTG posted this today. This is a persistent Republican mindset (in this case citing a clip from Goldwater in 1988); a deep belief of a strong faction with political influence in the country, at the nation’s expense.

This is why even the hardest of right wing republicans are breaking with their party (saying they will be refusing to vote for some republicans in the upcoming midterms) it is perceived it will check Israel’s influence.

Perhaps if Talarico wins in Texas, it will be the biggest upset to both parties; that checking Israel can work in Texas, in 2026, which means it can work nationwide in 2028.

A pattern, I have seen, time and time again the US, is a political shift takes 5 years. A few days after October 7th, 2023, on this forum (go back and check my old posts), I said observe how in coming 5 years, how everything is set to unravel for the status quo.

This is not to say Talacico will be pro-Palestinian, NOT BY A LONG SHOT, but for the US own long term interests, especially in the Middle East, and with getting back to focusing on the competition with China, real stability needs to be achieved with some kind of resolution, such a two state solution.

For its own international and domestic interests, the building consensus has to end in the US belling the Israeli Cat.

Barry Goldwater, the last of the true "Constitutional Conservatives". But he could only speak like this in 1988 once he left the Senate in 1987.

That true, as soon as they leave office or find out their are terminally ill, only then do they speak their minds.

Look at Ben Sasse

I personally despise these Left-Right Democrat-Republican Red State-Blue State this bucket-that bucket binaries that the legacy media and politicians have forced upon the people and how it polarizes one's worldview. It's one reason so many people have moved to podcasts and independent content creators, regardless of their credentials because the conversation there is much freer.

Culture war and pseudo intellectualism that's all the legacy media, including NYT, has ever been. It makes me personally glad the power of legacy media becomes less and less every year.

This is why the tea party/maga carved out a niche in the Republican Party a decade ago and now the DSA and their allies are carving out a niche in the Democrat party. Not to take over completely, but be enough of an influence to be able to direct the most important conversations. It a multiparty system in a two party costume.

Following the sudden July 11 death of Senator Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster triggered eye-rolling across America when he appointed Graham's sister Darline Nordone to take over the seat. At the time, the appointment of the unqualified sibling was widely understood as a mere interim honor, with Nordone serving as a placeholder pending the outcome of a special primary election to choose a Republican candidate for November's previously-scheduled election for the seat. Now, President Trump has asked Nordone to run in that primary race and pursue the full 6-year term that will start in January.

"During her visit, I asked Darline, for the Good of our Nation, to run for the U.S. Senate in the Special Republican Primary on Tuesday, August 11, 2026," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "I hope Darline does this, in that there would be nobody better to honor the legacy of her beloved brother, Lindsey. Darline...comes from an absolutely incredible family [and] has been a WINNER all of her life...RUN, DARLINE, RUN!"
