US 2026 Midterm Elections Thread

The USA is not a proper democracy. I am not sure what phrase can be used to describe the setup in the USA, but democracy is not one of them. For any true democracy, if the leader suffers such a large blow out in an election for his party, the party would be demanding the immediate resignation of the leader. The UK is case in point, where there is accountability of the leader. There is none in the USA.

The very concept that a leader can become a lame duck president as a result of a so called democratic election, but still allowed to continue as a leader is the antithesis of a true democratic setup.

The American constitution has failed to create and ensure a true democratic setup.
America was NEVER a true democracy; it is a Representation Republic. We don't vote the President by personal ballot (or popular vote), we use an electoral college system.

The reason why this is the case is a very complicated issue, I can write a paper just for this, but long story short, America just came from being a colony and gaining independence, they don't trust executive power, which originally a republic in 1700s would have seen the Congress (or Parliament in Europe) choosing the President and people vote for the congress. On the other hand, we can't trust our citizens enough for them to pick the president directly, mostly because back then, most American are farmer and they would almost always choose a grassroot guy instead of a professional like a doctor or lawyer or whatever. Which the electoral college system was born, as a compromise

And that set the stage for our election system, and since amending the constitution is exceedingly hard to do, which mean this 1700s system still remain and largely it had been outdated for almost 200 years.

Interesting shift from 2024. In all cases, Republicans lost the ground.
1- ICE roundup of Hispanics didn't help.
2- Young voters wanting jobs, no wars
3- White non-college: 'It is the economy, stupid'
4- Deluded Black Men of 2024 correcting course.
5- 'Muslims for Trump' of 2024, though not included here, may have realized the photo ops with Trump over the Gaza war in 2024 were a stupid, deluded wish.

How many of them voted against their own interests in 2024?! But, as the saying goes, 'You can't fool all the people, all the time' and here we are.

That was the right move by the Muslims
Biden was not doing shit
Like anything AT ALL
Trump by comparison did try to do something however compromised or pro Zionist he was
He made his crappy little gaza peace plans from a resort to peace keeping Muslim force etc
If Harris was around gaza would have been an even worse place for Palestinians imo
It was the right move

Other than that- correct ICE and jobs for me as a moderate younger guy
ICE was turning states into a Latin American fascist dictatorship

Now let's see how Democrats do in these new states
Keep taxes for everyday people low and at least try to keep as many high paying white and blue collar jobs in the States as possible
Don't bring agenda LGBTq plus stuff into our schools
Don't mess with people's jobs through environmental BS

If they behave themselves than yeah 👍🏼
Democrats as of now are the right choice

But you never know

What this midterm election exposed was "Israel" to large sections of AMerican population is now too much to go along, for many Americans they give zero fucks about that place and are sick and tired of having Israel using American blood and treasure to fight their wars, moving toward I think any US politician leaning towards Israel or taking APAC money can go to Hell for American electorates and will never get there vote. TRUMP NEEDED THIS BEATING IN THE MIDTERMS

@ f22-Raptor

You may not agree with me 100% Trump lost MAGA voters when he put Israel first before Americans, in my opinion Trump betrayed your MAGA and for that the movement has perished.
RIP MAGA

Absolutely wrong! Those who had voted for Trump in the hope that he would be better than Biden on Gaza quickly learned their lesson after Trump became the POTUS. Ask those Imams in Michigan about their regret supporting Trump or even Jill Stein. Trump didn't even pretend to care at all for the Gaza before becoming the POTUS.

Biden was a Zionist but Kamala was not. She had to be loyal to her President and had to get funding from the AIPAC but she was never a Zionist. Didn't she just endorse El Sayed while that other Dem woman supported a Republican. What does it tell you about Kamala?! There is a reason Israelis feared her and overwhelming supported Trump over her.

But then of course we would never know, will we?!

What's with people and Spider...........

I live in a Spider Country, and spiders here in Oz are as big as my cat. They are harmless, and they eat unwanted insects.......

stop badmouthing Spider lol
I completely agree. Spiders are our friends. They keep our homes safe from pests. Also, they will never intentionally bother you. Some species even observe our habits to only come down when we wouldn't be active, Furthermore, they're both very cute and badass.

I love spiders ❤️. I wanted to import some exotic pet spiders but alas they are too expensive. This reminds me of the scene from Arachnophobia the movie 😂
Please go with Jumping Spiders. They're the most intelligent spider specie. They're good at recognizing people. They're very playful and curious.

What happened tonight was a giant FU to Republicans.

I hear you about AIPAC..

But what happened tonight was about more than just that. Gas and diesel prices, cost of food etc etc

Also want to give my congratulations to Future senator Talarico
💯
Another reflective side, Dem are also on notice. They cannot take it for granted though Dem establishment will work incessantly to keep status quo, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, both are so far stooges of AIPAC.
Protests against Israeli genocide in Gaza in University campuses were unprecedented and they were brutally cracked downed.
To do any meaningful and tangible thing, new Dem leadership has to chuck out Chuck and Jeffries.

Although there were many factors involved in yesterday's election result, I believe the critical factor was the successful resistance of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps to the US/Israeli attack. Had Iran folded, had they not successfully closed the Straight of Hormuz, then Trump's terrible decision to go to war would not have snowballed into all the economic consequences that it did. Of course, Trump's many other behaviors would have weighed heavily on Republicans so that they might have lost control of Congress, but not to this degree. The fact that the Democrat win was so overwhelming puts it beyond any Trump ability to spin. If he tries he will just lose even more credibility.

As for impeaching, convicting and removing Trump, that will not happen unless Trumps narcissistic behavior so enrages ten Republican Senators that they conclude the party would be better off with Vance now, lick their wounds and try to rebuild for the '32 election. One would not think that could happen, but Trump is so self-centered as to be delusional. He might just insult so many Republicans to bring about an impeachment conviction. It will also depend on what impeachment grounds the House can muster. It will have to be something that Republican Senators can support on "principled" grounds.

My biggest concern is that both parties now show no concern for our deficit spending and national debt load. I just don't see how there cannot be a financial crisis coming.
