US Makes Plans to Deport Afghans, Families of Allies to Pakistan

The key topic that everyone here in this forum missed is that Taliban are Dalits of the world that no one wants to touch unless they have no other choice. Thus the Taliban have been using western desperation to deport afghan as a way to set meetings with them, get photos ops with westerners and then sell those photos as "external legitimacy" to their own public even though the only reason the west meets them in person is to discuss afghan deportations from their countries and once that is done, that's it. Embassies remain closed. No visas. Collapse in khairat/Aid even those it's still substantial compared to the negligible size of Afghan GDP.

Taliban have been trying to get some "legitimacy" from photos with Americans in this regard. Pakistan being a conduit for Afghan deportations robs them of this opportunity.

Nope, when Americans deport them, and we 'accept' them, it will be with an understanding to house them in hotels and not deport them to Afghanistan. Some cash per person.....😒😒🙄🙄

These Afghans are likely former translators and contractors who aided US forces. The Trump administration won't want to bring them into the US, but sending them back to Taliban rule creates a major dilemma. The likely fallback? A deal paying Pakistan to temporarily house them in hotels until US responsibility fades. Pakistan should be cautious agreeing to take deported Afghans on these terms is a recipe for a policy nightmare.

As I said, the expelled Afghans should be sent to some remote Pacific island nation; I think Narau or Palau had accepted expelled immigrants. The Taliban govt of Afghanistan will not spare them for collaborating with the NATO forces in Afghanistan.

And what's to note is that Afghanistan is such a failed 'nation' that a large number of Afghans were recruited by their occupiers to kill fellow countrymen. It is a sad human condition for them: Poverty, generational warfare and lack of opportunities drove them to desperate living; only Haiti could be considered worse off. Afghanistan should be given over to some mutually agreed UN sponsored setup to emancipate them in a sincere effort to lift them up. Humanity cannot and should not ignore 40 million people. But I know such a setup is not happening; one can only dream though.

The harsh reality is that this was always the predictable end for Afghanistan. Just as Pakistan feared, the Western nations that occupied the country ultimately left it high and dry. For two decades, the US and NATO used Afghanistan primarily as a launchpad against neighboring states, but such an expensive campaign was bound to end. It did so without meeting any objectives.

Now, the Taliban are entrenched indefinitely while the global community stands by indifferently. Pakistan must remain on high alert. India is exploiting Afghanistan as a launching ground for cross border threats, with the Taliban acting as a willing proxy. To safeguard its interests, Pakistan must counter Taliban led Afghanistan with brute force, cutting economic ties and enforcing the complete repatriation of Afghan migrants. The Taliban need to be kept impoverished, hungry and land locked.

Agreed mostly except I think better strategy is to lift up the Afghan lives. If not for humanitarian considerations then at least for practical reasons the 40 million living next door to Pakistan with no hopes and with a porous border would remain a problem. Not even India has bled Pakistan as much as Afghanistan in Pakistan's history. The only long term solution is the emancipation of Afghans without compromising Pakistan's own security and economy.

Pakistanis are one of the most charitable people on the planet - Former PM Niazi

Both people and government of Pakistan do not need such blood money. The saintly and warrior races that inhabit the realms of Pakistan will house them free of cost.

We are determined to set the bar ever higher in competition with the United States in absolute depravity and lunacy.

The fundamental issue lies in Afghanistan's internal demographic and political structure. Deep seated rivalries among competing factions make lasting peace improbable, as history has repeatedly shown. Furthermore, the spillover of the Pashtun conflict directly impacts Pakistan's stability.

Despite years of effort, the Pakistani state has increasingly recognized the futility of its engagement. With key border crossings closed and bilateral trade severely diminished, Pakistan appears to have lost interest in engaging with either the Taliban or the broader Afghan state.

Don't expect any engagement with the Taliban from the Pakistani side. The Taliban have made up their mind. They want to act as an Indian proxy.

Pakistan must not house them on its soil, they should have another plane at the airport ready to take em and dump them in kabul.
Otherwise, Pakistan should REFUSE to let them transit Pakistan

Let the americans fly them directly to kabul on some chartered flight, no way should we allow them to even stay any minute in Pak.

Nobody wants these vile people, they've shown theyre wild animals even when they live in the west just like ancient tribals and stuff. They behave like wild animals and do not care about societal and cultured living. They still treat their women like crap even when living abroad. Their boys become charsis and dont complete study mostly and end in labour jobs and even scammers and gangs.

The Pak-Afghan border is too long, too porous and unfortunately with some in Pakistan's tribal areas with questionable loyalty--the tribal loyalties matter more to some in Pakistan and of course a certain 'political party' providing the ideological oxygen to the Afghans and their ideological kins in Pakistan.
There is no way Pakistan can totally stop infiltrations of terrorists from Afghanistan. And it takes only a few to sneak in, strap a bomb on them and blow up in some mosque or a bazar and they are able to go as far south as Lahore or even Karachi. There goes Pakistan's 'image' and its economy.
The only long term solution is for Afghanistan to become another 'Stan' country; the Soviets were sincere on that count. The Americans were mostly to feed the evil Military Industrial Complex, especially after Bin Laden died in 2011.

Maybe watch just a minute from this point on. Rubio deflected the question of the Afghans being deported but he came to Pakistan's defense about terrorism from Afghanistan. Some here don't understand that the American suitcases of money given to the starving Afghans can cause a huge, huge security nightmare in Pakistan. And who knows how many CIA moles are still present in Afghanistan. Pakistanis should not underestimate the power of the American $$ to hurt Pakistan from Afghanistan.
Indeed, Pakistan's cursed geography has sandwiched it between a hostile nation of 1.5 billion and a hostile nation of 40 million people.
