US Perspective on the Iran - Israel / US War

Bit rich. You coming from a nation that hijacks citizens like Kashoggi and chops him
Into 100 pieces. Are you one to talk about regimes and post lies about 1000s of executions. I have given you enough wide berth to talk about the conflict but 1 more nonsense post like that and you will be banned.
How many times are we going to discuss 1 such example (only one that I am aware of in all of recorded history moreover) - Khashoggi (8 years ago now) ? If you make a botched operation, you tend to get rid of the evidence. He was killed before that occurred. Moreover he was likely some double agent or spy otherwise he would not end up like that. 100's of Saudi Arabian dissidents/regime critics living abroad for decades and nobody ever bothered them or targeted them. Some of the most prominent ones live in the UK, no less.

Not that long ago (pre-9/11) some of those same dissidents were wanted troublemakers/terrorists that the same West called political dissidents.

Prince Bandar gave a very telling interview to US media right after 9/11.

But once again, critics mostly have that 1 example.

The Iranian regime in January 2026 alone, killed between 7.000-35.000 of their own protestors.

One just needs to google Iranian protests and uprisings since 1979 and there will literally be 20's of such examples.

In 1988 alone the regime executed 10.000's of their own political opponents.

Comparing KSA and Iran is quite frankly a joke.

One (KSA) is one of the wealthiest, richest, most stable, respected countries with great/close ties with almost every relevant and important regional country, Arab, Muslim and global powers alike (USA, China, Russia).

The other (Iran) is an impoverished, sanctioned, disliked country (with an economy 2 times smaller than 10 million big UAE in comparison) with no allies other than the backward terrorist proxies that they have been opportunistically using and helping prop up since 1979. They don't even have cordial/close ties with one of the world's only other majority Shia countries in Azerbaijan next door. That should tell you something.

Relations with Pakistan were also much closer and cordial before 1979. Another hint.

They cannot get along with Afghanistan either that they share so much in common with.

And I never mentioned anything about 1000's of executions. I talked about the 1000's of Iranian protesters killed this year by the Iranian regime. Linked to it earlier.

As for executions, it is widely being reported by international media that Iran is executing (some underage) protestors at a rapid pace in order to climb down on dissent.

Some protests as well due to that recently.

Yaar, if Iranians are allowed to mouth off about the Saudis then surely Saudis can do likewise?

He makes some good points, look at all the proxies the Iranians have sponsored in the region. Just because the Iranians attack Israel it does not make them angels. Likewise as you say, Saudis by no means innocent. Both as bad as each other to an extent, but only one has consistantly supported Pakistan.
KSA (in the past) had to counter Iranian regime mischief and opportunistic meddling in the Arab and Muslim world since 1979. However KSA never created any terrorist proxy groups that acted like fifth columns in country x or y.

KSA only supported oppressed Muslim nations or Muslims who fought against non-Muslims or were attacked by them from Afghanistan (1980's against the Soviets that killed 1.5-2 million Afghan civilians during their invasion and occupation), Chechnya (Russian onslaughts and invasions in the 1990's and early 2000's), Bosnia in the 1990's and other areas of the Muslim world that were attacked. Iraqi insurgency in 2003 as well. Same in Afghanistan.

Of course support for the Syrian opposition and Syrian people against one of the most brutal regimes in the modern era (Al-Assad regime) that eventually ended up victorious and completely changed the region and its trajectory.

Other than that you had private individuals in the 10.000's going abroad to fight but that was their own personal decisions and some were anti-KSA regime to begin with and later became that vocally. No need to mention Al-Qaeda elements.

So not even remotely comparable IMO.

But you rightly state that KSA support and relations with Pakistan are one a completely different level compared to Iran-Pakistan relations and that should also be a hint about the ground realities.

Any way back to topic.

Bro every other post is suggesting "stupid" or "retard" shia this - shia that - making it sectarian. Im not having it.
I can handle critisism or patriotism but the one trick pony rants are getting monotonous.
I am no Iran fan - they are making howling mistakes but as a moderator one tries to be objective and it aint easy......

Is there a reason why the Iranian regime refrains from targeting US/NATO bases in Turkiye next door?

Türkiye

  • No foreign base exists on Turkish soil.
  • Every facility (Incirlik, Kürecik radar, etc.) is Turkish sovereign territory.
  • Foreign forces are there only under Turkish permission, via joint-use agreements.
  • Türkiye can restrict, suspend, or terminate access at any time.
  • Turkish officers command the base; US/NATO personnel operate under Turkish oversight.
In short: They are not US bases. They are Turkish bases with US/NATO presence.

Saudi Arabia & Gulf States

  • Many facilities are built, operated, and controlled by the US.
  • Host nations often grant exclusive-use rights to the US military.
  • Command structure is US-led, not joint.
  • Local sovereignty is limited inside those compounds.
In short: They are actual US bases, not joint bases.

Same thing applies to KSA. There are no foreign bases in KSA or US foreign bases. US uses the Saudi Arabian Prince Sultan Air Base.

Same exact concept like the Incirlik base.

Point being is that they have only targeted Turkiye 1 or 2 times. Same way that they largely refrain from targeting KSA despite KSA being the main hub for the USAF in the region outside of Turkiye and Israel.

They prefer targeting tiny Bahrain and Kuwait (ineffective) which does not prevent those nations from continuing to host US forces that directly target Iran. Yesterday US forces fired ATACMS and HIMARS missiles at Iran directly from Kuwait openly. They have done this on numerous occasions.

If Kuwait was afraid or they were really struggling, they would not have continued their policies. Even small GCC states have attacked Iran directly on numerous occasions.

The Iranian regime have failed in every way.

If the Iranian regime claims to want the "Great Satan" to leave the region why are they not targeting the Turkish bases that host US soldiers and even US nuclear weapons? Such as Incirlik Base (which is one of the largest in the region)? Can they only target empty bases in Kuwait and tiny Bahrain and hotel rooms?

Why are they not targeting Azerbaijan next door (barely) which is one of the closest allies with Israel in the region and buying and hosting Israeli weapons and intelligence assets? Israel likely killed Raisi from Azerbaijan using Israeli intelligence assets deployed there.

The many contradictions of the incompetent Iranian regime.

Alliance vs. Client-State Relationship

Türkiye is a NATO ally. It has treaty‑level equality with the US.It can disagree, veto, block, or refuse — and the alliance framework allows it.

Gulf states are US security clients. Their militaries, air defenses, and even maintenance pipelines depend on the US.They cannot realistically deny the US access without risking their entire security architecture.

Sovereignty Structure of Bases

Türkiye:

  • All bases are Turkish sovereign territory.
  • US forces are guests under Turkish command oversight.
  • Türkiye can legally shut down access, restrict missions, or suspend operations.
Gulf states:

  • Many bases are US‑controlled compounds.
  • The host nation often has limited operational authority inside.
  • The US has near‑total freedom of movement and mission planning.
A Gulf state cannot “deny access” to a base it does not fully control.

Military Dependency

Türkiye:

  • Builds its own drones, ships, missiles, jets, engines.
  • Has independent logistics, maintenance, and defense industry.
  • Can operate without US support.
Gulf states:

  • Rely on US contractors for aircraft maintenance.
  • Rely on US for air defense operation.
  • Rely on US for training, spare parts, and mission planning.
  • Without US support, their air forces would be grounded within weeks.
You cannot deny access to the country that keeps your air force flying.

Its different. Lets not pretend otherwise.

No mention of KSA here and there are no US bases in KSA either using your logic. KSA Is a major non-NATO US ally.

And KSA gets all the most advanced US weapons that key and main NATO allies receive and even more (F-35 and THAAD etc.) that many NATO members do not receive or cannot receive.

Now the most advanced microchips, civilian nuclear energy etc.

Not comparable indeed.

As for smaller GCC states, those are largely vassal states of KSA already with the exception of UAE. All all of them will return to KSA eventually as well as throughout 95% of all recorded history where those countries and their land and people were ruled by ancient civilizations, cultures, caliphates, empires, kingdoms, sultanates, emirates, imamates, sheikdoms etc. based in modern-day KSA or ruled by people from modern-day KSA. Even all of their ruling dynasties are originally from KSA with only the Al-Said royal dynasty in Oman being originally from Yemen.

Point remains, Iran seemingly is only able to really target tiny Bahrain and Kuwait of late and like previously they fail to prevent anything.

Azerbaijanis are Turks — culturally, linguistically, historically. Any attack on them isn’t some separate regional issue

it would immediately involve Türkiye.

Iran’s leadership understands this perfectly. They’re not looking to open a second front with a regional power, especially when they already have Israel and USA to deal with.

And the same logic applies to NATO facilities in Türkiye

they are Turkish bases, under Turkish sovereignty. Iran’s leadership knows this too .they’re not confused about who controls what.

The Gulf is a completely different . Those states are divided, rely heavily on USA/West, and don’t have the same unified strategic posture. That’s why Iran can pressure them in ways it would never attempt with Türkiye or Azerbaijan.

The reality is that Iran can only target (ineffectively at that too as everyone can see) tiny countries like Bahrain and Kuwait. It is embarrassing. The reason is the same one as to why they do not target KSA much at all despite KSA just killing 20 + Iranian IRGC terrorists in Iraq and actively targeting pro-Iranian terrorist cults and allies in Yemen and Iraq extensively in the past few weeks and days. Prior to that as well.

They are afraid of opening new fronts and know that they cannot do much harm. Their biggest bet is damaging regional oil and gas infrastructure (which in turn would have their own oil and gas infrastructure utterly destroyed and likely a total economic collapse in Iran) aside from the Strait of Hormuz that they have failed to control - only managed to disrupt but even Somali pirates used to disrupt the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden for years. Today every actor armed with drones and missiles can easily disrupt shipping lanes etc. It is no achievement.

Point remains the same, for a regime that wants to "remove the Great Satan" from the region they are overly focused on a few overall small US bases (mostly abandoned none the less) in small GCC states while leaving the main elephants in the room. That is a sign of weakness and not the kind of fake bravado that we have been used to hear from the Iranian regime and their supporters for decades.

Another question, when did they last target Israel even with 1 small drone launched from their supposed Hezbollah allies? Or even send those ineffective missiles (largely) of which most are shut down? I guess it is easier to target tiny Bahrain and small Kuwait just across the Gulf and claim some great victory.

One thing I notice is Iranian leaders have been too idealistic with their worldview. That is a very stark resemblance to that of the Soviet Union and North Vietnam. Here is a famous saying from North Vietnam's leader that has now gotten buried.

"Fighting the Americans means we are also fighting for the Soviet Union, for China, for the socialist countries, and for all of humanity. We are fighting even for the revisionists who are currently stabbing us in the back."

Regardless of the outcome, I hope that some kind of reform can come to Iran. It would be best if it came from inside Iran.
