US Political News and Trump’s China visit

for some reason I didn't get notified of your post......

Anyway, if I was the dem, I would probably try to push to the magic 60. Depends on how Trump unfold his term, he may be just pissing enough people off for the dem to pull this off, this is going to be a bitch to pull this off but if he is pissing off enough people in their cereal, Dem may have a chance. But for this to happen, they need to get someone in quick that can lead and start pushing the right button.

Harris is all but disappeared after the election, and you can't have the head of the party (since you were in the ticket) to just go out like that, you need a person who can lead by the front and then reengage with voter that way, election campaign started the moment you loses that election, and that is almost 5 months ago.

I agree the right leaning policy by the dem is fatal in the last election, I mean Dem parading with GOP politician just confuse people I mean if I were to vote on right leaning policy, why don't I just vote for GOP?? But as I said before, I don't know if Bill Burr is going to be right for the job.
The dems did it last time. People didn’t vote for Biden in 2020, but against Trump. I went jogging, all the way through New york the day It was announced Biden won in 2020, and I literally saw people dancing in the streets because Trump was out.

Btw, what do you mean by the magic 60? By June 10th 2028, Bill Burr will be 60. I’m not saying he’s perfect, but he’s “visible”, outspoken, but not too cringey. He’s not a politician, and being an old school Boston guy, he seems relatable to many people, in a way many politicians aren’t able to be.

The dems are currently playing into Trump’s hand, and letting him solely own the mess he’s making. They would be better off discounting the pro-Trump neocons in their ranks like fetterman, and working to save as many people from on the ground in their constituencies. People don’t want to be tricked again with more Fettermans or Mayor Adams, republicans in democrats clothes.

Rebuild as people from Main Street, sort of a Mr. smith goes to Washington appeal. Fighting for seemingly lost causes. So a coalition of lost causes that resonate with most Americans is still the way to go. Not the excessive victimhood mentality, but genuine grievances.

The dems need to break down their corrupt political machine, because they will only win if people think they are sincere. Obviously along side sound policies.

Democrats can campaign on yimbyism, especially with regards to Housing. Show how they can do it in the major cities and appeal to the rest of the country.

Magic 60 means trying to get 60 senate seat. Not Bill Burr age. There are enough people staying in the void for the dem to exploit, both undecided and traditional GOP (the one Trump labelled RINO) There are enough of these people to turn just about every seat, but whether or not the Dem can gun for 60 is hard, because they will need to win 2 to 1 in the mid term, it's hard but it's doable with the right person in charge

If the Dem can pull this off, this is going to be extremely rewarding, because with 60 seats, they can pass any bill, and if Trump veto those bill, then he is basically committing political suicide for his MAGA successor or next GOP and making sure Dem will win 2028. If Dem is extremely lucky and reach supermajority, they can revert everything Trump did, and remove Trump himself. But Dem would need to be extremely lucky and people needs to really fed up with Trump and MAGA, not sure if this is going to be doable.

And lol about Fetterman, I voted for him in 2022 (I was a PA resident) I remember when he was on the ticket people call him too progressive, and then when he was taken office, people called him too centrist instead of left leaning. And now you call him Neocon.......I know he supported Israel (along with just about 3/4 of all the politician of both house) and he supported Trump for some policy (namely drilling in PA) but I don't think he is a neocon, nor progressive. He is right in the middle maybe a bit lean to the left, he is no Manchin or Sinema, which I myself identify as two-way candidate. But then Fetterman is too young (in his political life, not his age) to be called one way or another, so I could be wrong.

Your right, it all comes down to the dems ground game, offering an alternative vision to win back people in the middle and try to get to 60 senate seats, and enough house seats to stop Trump or at least slow him down. I think dems will have to fix the cities, the way they did in the 90s, to convince people to vote for their candidate at the top of the ticket in all the swing districts and the presidency.
