US Political News and Trump’s China visit

All his cabinet is there basically for him to put them under the bus. That way, he can blame his failure on these people, and it's not his fault, while these people are also incompetent to start. But they are there nevertheless to prolong the incapability of this admin.

And you think $4.20 a gallon is bad, it's $2.70/liter here in Sydney, a Gallon is about 3.6 liters, that's A$9.7 a gallon, it's 6.7 US for a gallon here.
I mean this is first time i see Gas at 4.20$ since i moved here, but this is definitely killing my plans for road trips :(

spent a few days in LA and this is a different country & economy! regular gas is 5.89 in costco for g's sake!
Yeah no thanks, I stay in Florida... NY and California is a no go for me, I would love to move back around the Greenville SC but for now I will stick with Florida.

Same here.

Over the next month of so, I'll be making several trips to PHX. Later this summer, I'll be at Camp Perry, OH for 3 weeks. That trip along by the time I complete it (stops in Tulsa and Dallas on the way back) will be approx 4200 miles. At 20MPG, that will be approx. $945 in gas alone.

Godddddddddd, that's way to much... I was planning a 4-5 days vacation in either Destin or Key West, but give the gas price will add an extra 100-150$ i will wait until it comes down a bit. Road trips are perfect way to discover American beauty and specially national parks but the gas price will kill it.

No Plans for Florida? Bring Mrs AZ for nice summer vacation, you will enjoy beside the shitty Florida Traffic and bugs rest is fine haha

I've made a hundred trips there. We've a number of friends throughout the state we've not seen in awhile. Right now, Facetime is the next best thing to being there.

Trump’s recent claim that the U.S. can’t take care of daycare, Medicaid, or Medicare because of the cost of wars is beyond outrageous. It’s especially wild considering his administration is seeking $1.5 trillion for the 2027 defense budget, a massive 50% jump from our current $1 trellion spend.

Poll after poll shows a majority of Americans oppose this war and don't believe the administration has justified it. If the president truly believes we have won, as he keeps repeating, then he should declare victory, end the conflict, and finally focus on the economy.

Ignoring domestic needs while pouring money into an open-ended war is a path straight toward a severe recession. If this continues, the political consequences in the November midterms could be enormous, with both the House and Senate potentially shifting as a result. It’s time for the administration to prioritize the issues Americans actually care about before the damage becomes irreversible.

You know it is a rough day when you are making the 1970s look like the good old days. Trump’s inflation disapproval is actually outpacing Biden’s and Carter’s, that’s a massive red flag. Inflation was the primary reason Democrats took a hit last time, so seeing these numbers from the very people Republicans usually criticize is telling.

If this trend holds, the midterms might be a lot tougher for the GOP than they're currently bracing for.

The 29% who approved of this war think some magic Jew will rapture them up to heaven to pluck harp strings forever and ever, amen - if the United States military can bomb the Middle East to smithereens for Israel.
I agree. It’s definitely that religious element, but you also have to factor in the core MAGA base. They’re so loyal to Trump that they'll pretty much back him on anything he does, no questions asked.

Trump lost most of his core with the invasion of Venezuela and Iran.

Trump and Vance, during the 2024 presidential campaign, promised no new wars, and to end the war in Ukraine. I work at a busy truck stop. A year ago, people wearing Trump gear were common. Today, if anything patriotic is worn, it's the old classic red white and blue. It is rare to see any Trump bumper sticker or hat anymore.

Polls are being generous. If Trump was running today, against a tolerable Democrat, he will lose.

The key word in your post is "tolerable". The Democrats could easily have won in 2024 if they heeded your words. Trump won't be on the ballot in 2028. So, now, the key issue is how a Democrat-led Congress can constrain Trump for '27 and '28. He will use outrageous executive orders to try to escape his lame duck status. Can American institutions like the Congress, the Courts, the Bureaucracy and the Press hold him in check? We'll see.
