One word, I think. I usually got knocked out early in the spelling bee ;).

True, Dems are letting Zohran do his thing as a canary in a coal mine and seeing how he deals with Trump. The governorship could be on the cards if he really does a great job. Winning over the NY suburbs and Albany. But most expect a rough start with Trump testing his medal soon enough and often.

Ironically, I think the 2028 Olympics will be an albatross around Newsom’s neck. He will be scrambling to get that ready as well as del with the challenges of his state.

Dems can’t sit on the fence for long. They will needs a midterm strategy early next year and after that a 2028 strategy no later than mid 2027 to have a chance to build momentum on a narrative.

Btw, here is an interview with Gov. Hochul, from today, on “Trump-proofing” the state, as the title says, not the Governor.

he can do more for democrats as mayor anyway if his case study confirmed successful they will try to replicate it nation wide as new york is sort of political incubator and crux melting social point for usa and even the world.

do not underestimate impact of traffic relieve on people attitudes as they spend big chunk of day in it at cities like new york, actually for lot of people that could be life change in terms of quality of living.

That's the issue for Trump, because NY and CA are both high tax revenue states, he can't do much on NY and CA because just a week or 2 delay of tax revenue collection would spell disaster for Trump's Federal Government (States can't just withhold Federal Tax but they can certainly delay it) Unlike smaller democratic state, there are going to be more visble push back from big blue state like NY and CA

The Dem is going to see how the social experiment goes before getting onto a plan for Mid-Term 2026, Newsom said yesterday that he is not going to say whether or not he will run in 2028 until after the 2026 mid-term means there aren't really going to be many figureheads or even plan and strategy for mid-term.

It would have an impact, but not going to be big enough to solve the cost of living crisis in New York. A lot of people that support him ask for much, much more but that's not going to work when he is just a mayor.

Also, they can’t say he is angling for higher office than Governor or Senator as he is not allowed to run for president. It allows him to focus any discussion with his detractors and his supporters on New York.

At most, if successful, he can campaign with democrats in other states to help those other democrats in their races. Possibly helping to flip enough seats in congress, so that they could support legislation to increase federal funding for what he wants to get done in New York.
