How a must-win MI Senate race just became a GOP opening

I’ve been watching the Democratic primary for the Michigan Senate seat, and I wanted to share why I just sent a donation to Mallory McMorrow’s campaign.

For me, it’s about common sense. I really respect that she stopped taking money from the Israeli lobby. We’re already seeing how these conflicts are escalating toward Iran, and if we don't get some independent leadership in D.C., who’s next? Turkey? Pakistan? I can’t support the mainstream candidate, Heley Steven, because she’s still taking that lobby money. We need someone who isn't bought and paid for if we want to avoid being dragged into even more wars.

At the same time, I can’t go to the other extreme with Abdul Sayed. His "Defund ICE" stance is a total dealbreaker. I’ve seen the "Defund the police" disaster firsthand, getting robbed at gunpoint and having my brand new car vandalized by a far-lefty.

Our police already wear badges and cameras for accountability, and I believe ICE should be held to those same standards, but we still need them to do their jobs so we don't have total chaos.

McMorrow feels like the only reasonable person in the race. She’s willing to stand up to the lobbyists without trying to dismantle law enforcement. She’s the only one who actually sounds like a sensible choice to me.

Trump lost most of his core with the invasion of Venezuela and Iran.

Trump and Vance, during the 2024 presidential campaign, promised no new wars, and to end the war in Ukraine. I work at a busy truck stop. A year ago, people wearing Trump gear were common. Today, if anything patriotic is worn, it's the old classic red white and blue. It is rare to see any Trump bumper sticker or hat anymore.

Polls are being generous. If Trump was running today, against a tolerable Democrat, he will lose.
The truck stop stuff is interesting but I think you are seeing people just being quiet rather than totally walking away. Between the Epstein files and the cost of groceries, people are definitely annoyed. Most importantly, the war in Iran has people really on edge right now. That doesn't mean the base has actually quit on him though.

Even with guys like Tucker and Alex Jones turning on him, the base has not actually folded. Look at that Georgia race for MTG’s old seat. Even with the war being a huge issue, the Trump-backed candidate still won.

Also look around at this forum. Other than you, how many other people here do you actually see abandoning him? What you are seeing at your shop is probably people taking the hats off because they are frustrated. That is not the same as losing their vote.

I wish you were right, but the polls stay high because even if people are fed up, they usually go back to their party on election day. You might be seeing the early signs of a shift, but I would not bet on a total collapse just yet.

GOP or MAGA are not going to abandon Trump no matter what. Politics has unfortunately become a team sport for many. However the question is where do the Independents go and that faction is undoubtedly moving away from Trump and feeling buyer's remorse. Now will they show up at the polls in November and in 2028 ?

The fault for all this still lies with Mr Biden and the Democratic party for not allowing people to choose the Democratic presidential candidate in the 2024 election.

HUGE RULING!

NOW: CBS just ADMITTED that the Supreme Court’s ruling against racial gerrymandering Congressional seats WILL go WELL BEYOND LouisianaNearly a DOZEN seats in the South up for grabs VRA districts EFFECTIVELY DONE!“This ruling is a win, I think we can say, for Republicans.”“It also, I think, will call into question about a DOZEN or so existing majority-minority districts, mostly in the South.”

So there's not going to be any impeachment of Trump by dems. Even if no redistricting happens in those states this year and dems take the house by 1-2 seats they will have no choice but to be in their best behavior because in 2028 is when they will lose the house for the foreseeable future.

So it begins.

Everyone seems to forget it was Democrats who brought us Jim Crow laws and poll taxes.
